Tonight was the first Monday Arts Club at Lincoln Drill Hall. This
was not a Folk Club but an acoustic night of all genres of music. An excellent night for all music lovers! It is monthly (First Monday) and the next will be 4th October. Great venue...well worth a visit.

Keep music live...TA

What a night it was...a fantastic mix of Blues, Folk and modern.
I for one will be going again...on the first Monday of the month.
Best wishes, Mike.

Sorry folks...slight mistake....the subject should be Lincoln Drill Hall Unplugged..acoustic night. The next will be Monday 18th October. The Drill Hall Unplanned is an Arts Night which is the first Monday. Apologies!

I believe I might go to the unplanned evening also to read some of my joke poetry and sing the odd "funny" song. Best wishes.

Yes some confusion...The Drill Hall Unplanned( Poetry/story reading/play acting/singing etc, is the first Monday of each month and the accoustic night is the alternating fortnight. Having seen the first accoustic night...I am hooked. Am sure going to try the Unplanned also. Best wishes.

Thanks GS. Sounds good.
Doesn't this conflict with Lincoln Folk Club?

I believe it does as we set off to go to Lincoln Folk Club last night but the room was being used for a rock concert...so we were redirected to the Drill Hall....mmmmmmmmm.
Best wishes.

Come on guys, more info please!

What's the room like?
Is it N/S?
Who performed (other than Ian)?
Does it replace the Folk Club or is it additional to it?

Gimme a break!! :0)

Johnny

Tuesday 21st September
Drill Hall Unplugged!
Lincoln Drill Hall
Time: 8:00pm
Tickets: Free
Available: On the door
As a compliment to our Drill Hall Unplanned open mic arts night, the doors are opened tonight to musicians, songwriters and anyone who fancies an informal evening of live acoustic music. Come and perform your material to a sympathetic and like-minded audience or simpley come and listen. We welcome original material and if you feel like throwing a couple of covers in as well - feel free!
The event will be staged in the venue's Armoury Cafe Bar and each month will be hosted by our very own Armoury Skiffle Band! All you need to bring is your songs, your instruments and yourself! We will provide a small vocal PA system with a grand piano and tea chest bass should you feel the need. Contact Maurice at the Drill Hall to find out more.

Monday 4th October
Drill Hall Unplanned!
Lincoln Drill Hall
Time: 8:00pm
Tickets: Free
Available: on the door
The second of our open mic arts nights
As a complement to our Drill Hall Unplugged series, our open mic arts night is held in the Armoury Cafe Bar on the first Monday of every month. The idea is that, with a drink in one hand, anyone can come along and read a favourite poem or passage from a favourite book, play a tune or sing a song, maybe even re-enact a favourite scene from a favourite play or try out something new and original in front of a friendly and supportive audience.
Of course, you don't have to perform, you can come along and listen and maybe bring a piece you would like someone else to read. Contact our Box Office for further details.

I got the info from their web site www.lincolndrillhall.com
Looks like they will be a good event, I'm sure you would go down a storm SJ.
The date must be wrong on the web site unless GS can time travel, mind you he has friends in high places!

According to Lincoln Drill Hall programme....last night was the first Unplugged Acoustic Night...we was there!!! Apart from Ian performing, Aden was the only other name we knew who has played at Lincoln FC before. He plays the Blues with so much energy and STYLE. Probably some of the acts were students and others.... also with a great wealth of talent.

Next acoustic being on the 18th October..8pm
SJ You will like the set up...You did read the above then that the Subject should read Lincoln Drill Hall UNPLUGGED!! :)

Keep music live..TA

The Drill Hall is next door to The Duke of Wellington on Broadgate.
But the actual address is Free School Lane (Postcode LN2 1EY) and entrance.

The entrance to the Drill Hall is easy to find from The Duke of Wellington on Broadgate....walk a few steps up the hill, turn left into and cross the car park...turn left out of car park and Drill Hall is on your left. Alternatively..park in the car park and take it from there. Best wishes.
