Subject: BS: Canuck Health Care; well, THAT'S a bitch From: gnu Date: 07 Sep 11 - 05:00 PM Sorry... politically incorrect in a way this is. Sue me. My best buddy's grandson (Jackson Roch ****** was the name to be) was born today at 11AM. 6 pounds 9 ounces. They painted his room blue and we all bought stuff for the lad (cept fer me as I bought a stroller baby seat riggin friggin) because the hospital staff told the young couple they were going to be the proud parents of a baby boy. Imagine the lad's surprise when the baby was born wothout a dick. Not that whatever her name will be (I suggested Gary, of course) or the colour of her room or the the other things that were bought will matter a whit to the little bundle of joy, which my buddy tells me is REAL cute! Just floors me that the hospital staff could see a dick when there was NO dick. Hmmmm... maybe there WAS a dick... maybe it was a miracle? >;-) That oughta score me some points with the Mudcat womenzzz eh? |

Subject: RE: BS: Canuck Health Care; well, THAT'S a bitch From: maeve Date: 07 Sep 11 - 05:09 PM It happens sometimes, g. You're not looking at a sharp photograph when you see a sonogram image, and it's easy to make a mistake in interpreting it. There could be twins when a singleton is seen, triplets when twins are expected, or a girl when a boy is thought to be tumbling around in there. |

Subject: RE: BS: Canuck Health Care; well, THAT'S a bitch From: GUEST,999 Date: 07 Sep 11 - 05:11 PM Happened to friends of mine when the sonogram was misread. They didn't miss a beat. The house had been done in blue; wrestling-themed wall paper; toy guns all over the place. They refused to spend another $3000 dollars to change it all over. And they stood firm on that. Well, that girl is the toughest little number y'ever met. She is now 23 and she's begun to pee sitting down. FYI. |

Subject: RE: BS: Canuck Health Care; well, THAT'S a bitch From: Mrrzy Date: 07 Sep 11 - 05:30 PM It's true that it's easier to miss one that is there than see one where there isn't, but all it really takes is a finger in just the right place for the angle of the shot - kinda like the midgets they used in Casablanca so that the mock miniplane would look like a big plane far away. (And I have to say that if it weren't for the (expletive deleted) boyblue/girlpink divide imposed on babies usually in the US, this wouldn't be a problem other than getting a new name. Jackson is a nice middle name if they prefer a girlier first name, or how about Jillson?) Heh heh they better make sure the new baby isn't actually intersex and had one at one point and resorbed it... |

Subject: RE: BS: Canuck Health Care; well, THAT'S a bitch From: katlaughing Date: 07 Sep 11 - 05:31 PM I loved the anticipation of not knowing which is was all three times I had children. I always decorated with gender-neutral tones so it all worked out. Once they were born, I bough a few things in pink or blue, BUT never a lot as I didn't want to perpetuate stereotypes.:-) kat |

Subject: RE: BS: Canuck Health Care; well, THAT'S a bitch From: GUEST,999 Date: 07 Sep 11 - 06:22 PM I'm with Kat on that. I didn't care whether my kids were male or female. I was in for both deliveries, and both were a surprise worth having. |

Nuther twenty years on him and he might be as good as me... nahhhh. But maybe Gary will ... iffin I teach her the finer points a the backwoods what I never done with the lad on accounta ya just let a lad learn some a them things on his own whereas it's a man thing ta teach a jane everything ya can. Don't blame me fer bein "sexist"... it's just the way we menz are wired. SINS... Garya???? That's just NOT! So, the kid mighta been givin the finger to the staff? Yup, definitely a good ol Kent County redneck gal. Sniff. I need a tissue. |

Subject: RE: BS: Canuck Health Care; well, THAT'S a bitch From: Raptor Date: 08 Sep 11 - 05:41 AM If it wern't for canuck healthcare I'd be D E A D dead. If I was in the USof A my stay I'm told would have been $100,000 a day for 70 days because of the cost of the drugs I was on. And I hit that wall hard enough to knock the dick off a baby Boy.(That didn't happen by the way). Thanks to canuck healthcare I'm enjoying my 43rd birthday today. Your friends should be thankful they didn't givebirth to a dauxhound.(they attract bears) |

Subject: RE: BS: Canuck Health Care; well, THAT'S a bitch From: Stilly River Sage Date: 08 Sep 11 - 09:24 AM The umbilical cord is a convoluted thing and if it gets tucked around the baby when the sonogram is taken then it can appear between the legs. Your effective test is amniocentesis, it gives you the XX or XY reading on the baby. SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: Canuck Health Care; well, THAT'S a bitch From: ChanteyLass Date: 08 Sep 11 - 11:05 PM When I was expecting, sonograms were usually done only if a pregnancy was high risk which thank goodness mine was not. I decorated with a Raggedy Ann and Andy theme. I told friends who wanted to knit, crochet, or sew something to use mint green or yellow. I had a son who is accepting of all people. |
