We listened to the King's speech, live, in full. Many and often were the cries of "YES", raised fists,* and happy laughter. We afterwards broke into the third bottle of plonque that evening, so we could toast His Majesty's health.

Minor point: Some of the standing ovations seemed to come as a surprise to Charles; there were only one or two points where he seemed to be expecting applause which didn't happen. All in all, a masterful demonstration of working a crowd in real time, while sticking in the stiletto with wit and erudition.

A bit off topic, but when our self-styled "Secretary of War" was asked by a friendly GOP House member how long it took for the US to win a battle against Japan, the impeccably coifed Secretary replied, with a knowing smile, "Several years."

The Congressman, nonplussed, had to explain that the battle of Midway (one of the most famous in history) was in mid-1942, before hurrying on to further supposedly softball questions.

This is high-school level knowledge.

A naval blockade is considered an act of war under international law. It is a belligerent act designed to stop commercial traffic in and out of an enemy's coast, which legally signifies an armed conflict. While sometimes utilized in modern scenarios, a true blockade is generally unlawful outside of a declared state of war.

But Trump says he has halted hostilities, so Congress is powerless to stop the war after 60 days. However, the blockade is still in effect.
