Well, Mate; we have a "Leeds" not far from here in Maine, as well as a "Scarborough" a bit to our South.

My last name is indeed "Clarke", and my Wife on occasion calls me "George"...

Observant as usual 36-34-36 - there is no gap between the Pink and the Panther - but there wouldn't be would there? My Darling Boy Raggytash when are you coming to visit us in the Valley's of Wales we have reserved a Caravan there for you. It has a beautiful view of the Valley that is filled with Sheep at this time of year. The pub is only a stone through away! However you would be advised to use the footpath and taking this short cut along the edge of the slate quarry makes the pub just 5 miles away. When exactly is the shanty session in Scarborough supposed to be?    Or is that the question you were hoping to ask George? From the above posts it sounds as though he might be a bit over-extended for the time being.

You might possibly (big question mark though) get some useful information out of another member of Cobler's Monday, like Mick Heywood. Or even Phil Jones.

Well it's Durham folk Party this weekend. I have tried to contact Skippy but I have so far failed. Of the Shanty or possible Shanty bash on the Grand Turk whilst she is in Scarbough I no nothing. However the Sunday Night Tap and Spile Session is planning to move on board thye Grande Turk Whilst She is back in WHITBY this will include Folk Week and during Folk Week I belive Mick Haywood is hoping to move the Whitby Folk Club back on board for Folk Week.

As whitnessed be many Mick Haywood's Cracking Idea two years ago proved to be a great sucksess. So I will add to Kitty's advice ask Mick Haywood of Coblers Monday you can find his phone number and email on the Coblers Monday web site. http://uk.geocities.com/aaardvark001/

If you are in Whitby during Folk Week you will find Mick, Myself and Coblers Monday every day from 13.00 to 15.00 in the Fleece on Church Street running a singeround.

That's not too much of a problem - this is Folk Week after all! The fringe will do what the fringe will do, and there'll be other singarounds in other pubs at the same time, no doubt, both official and fringe.

Les - I didn't actually mean it was a problem. It means that the people who can't get into the heaving Endeavour can hear nautical songs in the Fleece instead (and possibly vice versa) and won't have to cross the Esk to see if they can make it into Mo and Jo's session in the Plough.....

Nice to know that the Grand Turk will be in Whitby during Folk Week - I've only seen the video so far.

It's my understanding that Jim's session will be on in the Endeavour,when a Singaround presided over by Coblers Monday or parts of the group will be will also be running at the same time. A lunchtime singaround (1-3pm)has been running in the Fleece for approximately 10 years and this session is just a continuation of that. Coblers Monday are not just a Shanty Group. All it's members are solo performers in their own right and have a vast repertoire of song of all kinds. Mick Haywood most underrated as he is, as I have pointed out to a few people, is a folk song collector of some repute. He is now even at his young and virile age a source singer. His Folk Song Collection is long over due for publication. That said a Mister D Bull**** did allegedly get his hands on Mick's Song collection in the early Seventies and lost or allegedly lost the whole collection. So over due for publication as his collection is! I believe there are a lot of people who would say that it could have been far worse had D.B published it. Fortunately Mick has a memory and other organs like an elephant and he has completely restored his song collection. Could the person or people who keep sending offers for penis extensions to the Coblers Monday email address please note this last sentence and stop sending him offers of further enlargements. We are Coblers Monday and we sing for fun and to entertain and inform. Mick and Angi Haywood as most people are aware run the Whitby Folk Club 52 weeks a year making visitors and regulars welcome whilst giving all encouragement and the opportunity to sing and or make music
