Subject: BS: Sex Change From: Louie Roy Date: 27 Mar 08 - 10:09 AM How many mudcatters heard on the news about a man having a sex change and then getting artifically insemenated and now is pregnant and according to the pictures they show on TV has a big belly indicating he's at least 7 month pregnant |

Subject: RE: BS: Sex Change From: frogprince Date: 27 Mar 08 - 10:19 AM Saw some of it. Some of his neighbors think it's a hoax. But the claim is that "he" still has a uterus and can still be pregnant. ...Where did they insert the impregnation?... ...Can we assume this will be a caesarian delivery?... |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Sex Change From: MMario Date: 27 Mar 08 - 10:22 AM ?? were did the ovaries and uterus come from? Though there is a genetically hermaphroditic family from the carribian where apparently "male" children morph into female state. there are records of the same individual when young fathering children and later giving birth - but those individuals start life with both testicles and overies and at least rudimentary uteri. |

Subject: RE: BS: Sex Change From: MMario Date: 27 Mar 08 - 10:34 AM I found one article regarding a transgendered WOMAN (now living as a man) who kept the "original equiptment" and is pregnant. However there is also a man (genetically, physiologically and socially) in NYC who is undergoing a pregnancy using an experimental procedure IVF techniques were used to induce an ectopic pregnancy by implanting an embryo and placenta into the abdominal cavity, just under or into the peritoneum (the surrounding lining). Delivery will be by cesearean section. |

Subject: RE: BS: Sex Change From: Emma B Date: 27 Mar 08 - 10:37 AM This is the 'newspaper' report still I don't suppose you can believe everything you read! |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Sex Change From: MMario Date: 27 Mar 08 - 10:39 AM see this site This has been being done in lab animals since the 1970's. We had pregnant male rats in bio class when I was in college - though they didn't make much effort to keep the parant alive during delivery. |

Subject: RE: BS: Sex Change From: Stilly River Sage Date: 27 Mar 08 - 10:43 AM However there is also a man (genetically, physiologically and socially) in NYC who is undergoing a pregnancy using an experimental procedure IVF techniques were used to induce an ectopic pregnancy by implanting an embryo and placenta into the abdominal cavity, just under or into the peritoneum (the surrounding lining). Delivery will be by cesearean section. Most women will tell you that "ectopic pregnancy" is what you never want to hear--it's a fast route to a painful and deadly pregnancy. It's ludicrous that someone would even suggest it or that a qualified physician would sanction it. It sounds like a hoax. SRS |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Sex Change From: MMario Date: 27 Mar 08 - 10:45 AM whoops- should have checked. That site and the hospital are fake. However the procedure, as I said, has existed for lab animals since the 1970's. |

Subject: RE: BS: Sex Change From: MMario Date: 27 Mar 08 - 10:50 AM stilly - if there ever is to be male pregnancy - there's no choice. ectopic is the only possibility. unless they also pefect uterine transplants. |

Subject: RE: BS: Sex Change From: Jeri Date: 27 Mar 08 - 10:54 AM There's an article here. Mmario had it. Woman becomes man, keeps female parts, artificially inseminates self: preggers. |

Subject: RE: BS: Sex Change From: Rapparee Date: 27 Mar 08 - 11:27 AM Sex is chromosonally determined, not surgically or hormonally or pyschologically. If someone wants to undergo the pain and expense of the surgery, etc. necessary to change their outward appearance to that of female or male, okay, that's cool. But you can't fool Mother Nature, and one of these days the courts are going to have to decide on this issue. |

Subject: RE: BS: Sex Change From: dwditty Date: 27 Mar 08 - 11:33 AM I heard when Elliot Spitzer asked for sex change from his $4300, she slapped him! dw |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Sex Change From: Jeri Date: 27 Mar 08 - 11:42 AM Rap, I think the chromosomal thing is why the surgery isn't referred to a "sex change" anymore but "gender reassignment". There's a difference between sex and gender that doesn't have to do with political correctness. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Sex Change From: Rapparee Date: 27 Mar 08 - 12:11 PM Which is how it should be, Jeri. I just wanted to point out that sex is not (at this time) changeable; gender is. (Back in second grade, when the teacher first introduced the concept of "gender" in grammar to us, almost everyone in class thought she'd said "janitor" and for a few days we were quite confused. It was also hard on the school maintenance staff during that time.) |

Subject: RE: BS: Sex Change From: Stilly River Sage Date: 27 Mar 08 - 03:07 PM Awww--I bet you were a cute little first grader! Did you spread around or eat the white paste provided for art work? Is that why the genitors were onto you? SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: Sex Change From: gnu Date: 27 Mar 08 - 08:08 PM I went to Catholic school when I was nine years old. Boys and girls were strictly separated. Divide and conquer? |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Sex Change From: Rapparee Date: 27 Mar 08 - 09:11 PM I went to Catholic schools from the age of 5 until I was 25 (except for periods when I was in the Army). Boys and girls in grade school didn't sit together but shared the same classrom, lines, etc. (bathrooms were also seperate). At the all-boys high school I took band, which was the only daily co-ed activity (hehehe). And college wasn't segregated at all, except for shower rooms and dorms and things, and maybe not even then. |

Subject: RE: BS: Sex Change From: Little Hawk Date: 27 Mar 08 - 09:33 PM I heard about it...but I don't care. ;-) I could say that about a whole lot of stuff that I hear about lately. |

Subject: RE: BS: Sex Change From: Amos Date: 27 Mar 08 - 09:46 PM I had a pal named Al one time. No, seriously. We went our separate ways and years later I learned he'd become Alice. Never did get to talk with him about it but I read his book -- "Gender Outlaw" -- I just don't know what he went through, but his path sure surprised the hell out of me, I'll say that. A |

Subject: RE: BS: Sex Change From: Mr Red Date: 28 Mar 08 - 04:02 AM Emma - shame on you - that is not a newspaper article - it is in a COMIC. But they have been known to print the truth on occasions. Especially if it is sesnational. |

Subject: RE: BS: Sex Change From: Emma B Date: 28 Mar 08 - 07:04 AM Well I did put the 'newspaper' bit in inverted commas :) and The Guardian article didn't have the photos! Seriously (?) this news item has received coverage in most of the UK press. I like the first woman's reaction in this you tube report! |

Subject: RE: BS: Sex Change From: Mrs.Duck Date: 28 Mar 08 - 08:30 AM Thread drift alert - does anyone in UK remember the adverts for birth control in the 70s that showed a pregnant man with the caption'Would you be more careful if it was you that got pregnant?' Well my brother took the photo! |

Subject: RE: BS: Sex Change From: catspaw49 Date: 28 Mar 08 - 10:29 AM So what gender is "fuck" in French? Is it different in German? And as we have no gender for "fuck," what does this say about our respective countries? Does anyone give a fuck? If so, can you do so as a tax write-off? Spaw |
