Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: gnu Date: 26 Nov 10 - 06:25 PM It's too fucking cold. I can't type for a while after I come inside. And my brain is numb... besides... it's cold. |
Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: Joe Offer Date: 26 Nov 10 - 06:31 PM It just seemed that there were comparatively few, because it was mostly music threads that got spammed a while back. I cleaned 'em up and restored the balance. -Joe- |
Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: JennieG Date: 26 Nov 10 - 06:39 PM It's not cold here...... Cheers JennieG |
Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: Rapparee Date: 26 Nov 10 - 07:11 PM I'm going home tomorrow. |
Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: Ed T Date: 26 Nov 10 - 07:21 PM Because Rapparee changed his name. |

Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: akenaton Date: 26 Nov 10 - 07:31 PM The "Pubs" won the election and Sarah's on a roll....:0) |
Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: gnu Date: 26 Nov 10 - 07:56 PM Sarah... I'd like to have a roll in the hay with her... as long as she didn't talk anything but dirty. I mean, Russia and North Korea??? Stunned as a bat, but I'd still like to roll her. |
Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: Rapparee Date: 26 Nov 10 - 10:04 PM Well, she IS from Northern Canada.... |
Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: Little Hawk Date: 27 Nov 10 - 12:06 AM Or would be if Russia had sold it to the British instead of to the USA... I think there is a paucity of BS threads partly because we've worn out most of the good subject matter...and people are getting fatigued by the endless "argument" threads (politics and religion). I would start some new Chongo adventure if I had the time, but I'm kinda short on time at present, so it'll have to wait. Say...HERE's an idea! Break up the MOABS thread into about 25 separate threads. This would restore the BS section to more appropriate dimensions at once. |
Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: Ebbie Date: 27 Nov 10 - 02:59 AM On occasion I have heard someone grouse that there are few interesting threads- my answer is: Start one! (I don't mean you, Bobert; yours are all so interesting they usually startle me. :) |
Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: DougR Date: 27 Nov 10 - 02:04 PM I've often wondered what made you the way you are, Ebbie. Now I know. :>) DougR |
Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: Ebbie Date: 27 Nov 10 - 02:07 PM I startle easy? :) |
Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: Ed T Date: 27 Nov 10 - 02:19 PM Why so few BS threads? The economy is bad, so people are making adjustments to their lives. This includes making love more frequently, instead of starting new threads mon Mudcat. Just a guess? |
Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: gnu Date: 27 Nov 10 - 02:50 PM Seriously, it is a poser. I know personally that I am full of shit, as are a lot of others here at The Café (and you know who you are) but as to why I am not sharing that gift to a greater extent escapes me. Except that it's still really cold here... and winter hasn't even truely taken hold. Ed T... re making love more frequently... what's a few minutes in a 24 hour day? |
Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: Nancy King Date: 27 Nov 10 - 04:40 PM I seem to remember a while back folks complaining that there were too many BS threads... |
Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: JohnInKansas Date: 27 Nov 10 - 08:38 PM Nancy - I rather thought that this thread was the result of Bobert being unable to leave any complaint unanswered, and was his response to the complaint about "too many BS threads." We seem also to have had fewer "copycat threads" recently; but examined closely this thread quite likely is a somewhat more sophisticated use of that genre. Some may not understand that the copy cat thread that appears to be a mere bit of nonsense actually is (sometimes) a fairly advanced method of changing the apparent subject in order to subtly address an original topic "a little slantwise." Of course, sometimes a copycat thread is just a bit of nonsense; but the difference is easily recognized in most cases. As our resident master of lurking, scheming, and warped, bent, and twisted argument, Bobert has led us in his usual fashion (or at least in one of the styles he sometimes assumes) into what could be a more rational discussion - since here the topic title is a sensible question rather than an obvious complaint. Of course, I could be wrong. John |
Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: Rapparee Date: 28 Nov 10 - 10:14 AM I have it on good authority that the Chinese are cornering the market on BS. In the future it will all be labeled "Made in China." Or Washington, DC.... |
Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: pdq Date: 28 Nov 10 - 10:39 AM That suggests a good question: if a plate is made somewhere else, is it still china? |
Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: Amos Date: 28 Nov 10 - 11:17 AM Maybe, but not necessarily the good china. Anyway, the paucity of BS threads is due to the huge number of mediocre BS threads. A |
Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 28 Nov 10 - 11:45 AM I didn't think many of them were that good Amos. Mediocre seems somewhat generous. Don T. |
Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: Rapparee Date: 28 Nov 10 - 03:08 PM No, MOAB contains only pure, grade AAA, unadulterated, free-range, antibiotic-free, no-growth-hormone BS. Bear in mind that unlike Eiseley, you need not read the whole thing (although if you do you will become Enlightened). |
Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: beardedbruce Date: 29 Nov 10 - 02:10 PM "you need not read the whole thing (although if you do you will become Enlightened). " I have to state that I am still as much in the dark, and just as heavy, as before I read it. |
Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: Thompson Date: 29 Nov 10 - 02:24 PM There are a few threads that I would have thought of as "non-music" up in the "music" area. |
Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: Amos Date: 29 Nov 10 - 02:26 PM Well, you have to understand it, also, which arch Conservatives have trouble with, as a rule. But you are probably the exception, so it must be some other problem. A |
Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: ragdall Date: 29 Nov 10 - 02:31 PM That suggests a good question: if a plate is made somewhere else, is it still china? This question is irrelevant, or soon will be. All plates will be made in China. rags |
Subject: RE: BS: Why so few BS threads??? From: beardedbruce Date: 29 Nov 10 - 02:38 PM definitely NOT arched... |
