Has anyone else noticed the proliferation of little green eyes lately? They are dark plastic and contain cameras that are hooked to computers which then store the images. Anyone else bothered by them? Bothered by the notion of being watched? Just curious.

No, but I intend to install some in the library. We're losing materials that the people of the city paid for -- and there are areas we can't watch, not the least reason for which is too few staff due to not enough money.

We also attract children, and we want to attract children. Unfortunately, by attracting children we can also attract a...well, a less-than-desirable bunch of adults....

Little green eyes OUTSIDE, or in public buildings like **libraries** don't bother me in the least! (I LOVE traffic cameras, 'cause I don't feel the need to run red lights)...)(Nor do I need to steal books or rob mini-marts)

Now, if I start to see them in my bedroom.......

Spiders have little green eyes. If you go outside in the evening with a flashlight and shine it at the ground you can see hundreds of little green spider eyes reflecting back at you. Hold the flashlight at head level or wear a "miner's lamp" type light for best results.

No, I hadn't noticed. To be honest, after having spent my childhood in a little village and half my life working for the federal government, I have never been bothered by eavesdropping and snooping. Mind you, I also know how uninteresting I am to the various police forces operating around Ottawa ...

I worked for nearly 26 years with the knowledge that someone could be watching me either from the enclosed catwalk overhead or by closed-circuit camera.

It was part of the job and I accepted it.

I do NOT accept cameras outside of a place of business. I think that it is an invasion of my right to SOME privacy.

If a municipality wants to film an intersection known for traffic violations in order to DO something about it that's one thing. Simply filming on the off chance that they'll catch someone breaking the law is quite another.

It's only a small step to "That which is not compulsary is forbidden."
