It occurs to me to mention a little song that I've known for yonks. Words as follows:

I once knew an old man who had a wooden leg.
He spent all day drinking porter from a keg.
I knew another old man who had no legs at all.
Oh the World is surely getting small.

I once knew an old one* who had a glass eye.
She spent all day gazing up into the sky.
I knew another old one who had no eyes at all.
Oh the World is surely getting small.

*i.e. an old woman

Apparently Irish but beyond that I know nothing about it. I do not remember where I got it.

Anyone know anything?

I remember it used to be sung as an introduction to the tune King of the Fairies by someone, probably Seamus Creagh, in the nightly sessions in the Ship Launch Inn in Bangor, Gwynedd in the early 1970s. I never came across any more verses than you have here.
