Subject: Lyr Add: FISHERMAN'S LASSIE (from Isla St. Clair) From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 06 Jul 00 - 02:11 PM THE FISHERMAN'S LASSIE
Oh the Fisherman is a bold young man
Chorus:
I'm a ramblin' tamblin' fol-the-do-a-day
I will dress myself in my Sunday best
This version from the singing of Isla St. Clair, who said of it in her radio programme Tatties And Herrin': Songs from the NorthWest of Scotland (BBC Radio 2, 7th. June 1995): "My grandmother, Marge(?) MacDonald from the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, told me how she'd sing (The Fisherman's Lassie) while standing on the quay at Stornoway, waiting for the boats to come in." |
