Subject: Lyr Add: CUMBERLAND MOUNTAIN BEAR CHASE From: MMario Date: 07 Nov 00 - 08:38 PM from John_in_brisbane. this is Pete Seeger's version, from the singing of Uncle Dave Macon. Doesn't appear to be complete because the gif also says "pete works up an imitation of hounds barking and ends with the shooting of the bear."
CUMBERLAND MOUNTAIN BEAR CHASE midi to alan, NWC file to Dick. |

Subject: RE: Lyr/Chords Add: CUMBERLAND MOUNTAIN BEAR CHAS From: GUEST,Banjoman_CO Date: 08 Nov 00 - 01:24 AM MM: I do a version of this, but its a story about a little boy wanting to go hunting with his dad. I know one version by Pete is in his "how to play the 5-string banjo" book. I've heard several versions of this and I have adapted them all into my own version. My version talks about one of the hounds called (appropriatly) Ol' Blue. Song includs:boy goes hunting-- boy gets lost --- hounds run to fast --- boy waits for long time --- Ol' Blue comes runnin and finds boy -- then the chorus "way, way we're bound for the mountain, bound for the mountain, etc. I think that every banjo player has his or her own version of this great banjo show-piece.
