In looking for information about Cheshire, Ohio, a town of 221 bought up, entirely, by a polluting energy company, which Spaw wrote about, I found the following site which I thought might be of interest to some: Take Back Earth Day.

The following organisations have joined to create that site, etc.:

American Rivers
American Rivers, the nation's leading river conservation group, has worked since 1973 to protect wild and scenic rivers, repair damaged rivers, and restore wildlife habitat.

Defenders of Wildlife
Defenders of Wildlife fights powerful special interests to save endangered wildlife, habitat and biodiversity. Join Defenders Electronic Network to save something wild for future generations.

Friends Of The Earth
Friends of the Earth International is a federation of autonomous environmental organizations from all over the world. Our members, in 66 countries, campaign on the most urgent environmental and social issues of our day, while simultaneously catalyzing a shift toward sustainable societies.

Greenpeace
Greenpeace is an independent campaigning organization that uses non-violent direct action to expose global environmental problems and to force solutions, which are essential to a green and peaceful future.

League of Conservation Voters
As the bipartisan political voice for the national environmental community, LCV publishes the National Environmental Scorecard, which rates members of Congress on key environmental votes.

National Environmental Trust
With experience in media relations, issue campaign management, government affairs, federal environmental law, and investigative research, NET provides public education campaign and communications expertise on national environmental issues.

National Parks Conservation Assn.
Protecting and enhancing America's National Park System for present and future generations. Ten parks are in critical condition. You can help.

Natural Resources Defense Council
NRDC uses law, science, and the support of its members to protect the planet's wildlife and wild places and ensure a safe and healthy environment for all people.

National Wildlife Federation
Education, inspiration and action, helping people from all walks of life to restore and safeguard the wildlife and wild resources of our world.

Physicians for Social Responsibility
PSR works at the intersection of environment and health, striving to protect Americans through education and action about global warming, toxics, drinking water quality and antibiotic resistance.

Sierra Club
Sierra Club works to inspire all Americans, and every public official, to protect the natural world that surrounds and sustains us, for our families, for our future.

The Ocean Conservancy
Through science-based advocacy, research, and public education, The Ocean Conservancy informs, inspires and empowers people to act for the oceans.

Don't drive your car ever again! Walk! Trot! Run! Ride a bicycle!
