Subject: BS: Trivial Question U2/Battle From: alanabit Date: 13 Nov 04 - 07:36 AM I was listening to U2's "New Year's Day" this morning. I recalled hearing somwehere that it was about a WWII battle. I couldn't recall which one though. I think it was about a battle on the Russian front somewhere, but I am not sure where. Someone told me it was about Kursk, but that was fought in midsummer. The Battle of Stalingrad ended on 31/1/1943. So it can't be that one either. I am now wondering if it might have been the breakout from Moscow. As there are both U2 fans and armchair historians on Mudcat, where better to ask? |
