Subject: Obit: Leon Askin-Hogan's Heroes From: GUEST Date: 05 Jun 05 - 10:41 AM No musical content mentioned but thought many mudcatters might remember actor Leon Askin Askin was best known for his role as the Nazi Gen. Burkhalter who constantly threatened to send the POW camp's inept commander, Col. Wilhelm Klink to the Russian front because of his stupidity. Askin died in Vienna, Austria at age 97. |

Klink. As I recall, Leon Askin was in some of the Hollywood war movies. Seems like I only remember him playing a German. |

I find it fascinating that most of the Nazis in Hogan's Heroes were played by Jewish actors from Austria or Germany.
