On Friday Nov 14 1998 I have my next significant Birthday (UK bus pass day says it all!!)

Now it seems to me that I should organise some sort of celebration.

I am thinking that some sort of "Big Sing" would be a good way to celebrate the big day and I should begin planning it now ( book a venue etc.)

So this is an advance notice to you all - Who would be up for a "Song and Ale" type event on that day or maybe for Saturday 15th or possibly both.

This is your opportunity to come "Darn Sarf" and see what we can get up to down 'ere (Sussex for those of you that dont know)

I'm saying this in other Internet places for other mates that don't do Mudcat but can any catter wot feel they would be up for this say yay or nay on this thread so that I can get things under way.

I'd be in that Dave. Being a couple of years ahead, I fancy making a start on growing old disgracefully (as long as nobody suggests I should grow UP).

What's the plan with regard to venue, or is it too early to ask that yet?

Don Trying to get an idea of how big a room/hall whatever before I make any decision but I'm thinking of a private room or Hall with a supply of beer (and other drink) I suppose)where we can make our entertainment.

I suppose some food should also happen.

So far there will be me and her and you - probably some more on the day :-)

I did the same for Jon's 50th and managed to find loads of people that he used to sing with as well. It ended up Friday to Sunday at the Fox and Hounds. All you need is a pub with a separate room, lots of bunk house type rooms, a campsite for vans and those foolhardy enough to camp in November. Ask everyone to contribute something to the food and make sure the pub has good beer and make sure you get someone to drive the sessions ... just add a dvd of the whole preceedings so you will be able to remember all those things that others always tell you that you did......easy! Count us in.

Ah Cats that gives me an idea.

I know a likely pub or two but its the sleeping/camping/caravan side of things that needs more thought.

And Carole if it turns into a full weekend the Sunday will be the 16th!!!

Scorpios shall take over the world - I know at least three others Scorpios out in Mudcat land.

I'll start looking for a venue in the near future

Dave, it would be splendid to have a big knees-up and I'll make sure we don't book a Lewes Arms workshop on that day (we've got one with Roy Clinging and Neil Brookes on Cheshire tunes on 22nd. November 2008).
