Subject: RE: Whitby.... From: Red and White Rabbit Date: 20 Mar 04 - 08:17 AM Old git and MCFat and myself will all be at Moor and Coast they are both working and I am trying to get back into drinking - and folk week - not sure if Old Git is going to the whole week but I'll be there with family in tow and MCFAT will be with Lady A in the Tap helping us all to suffer for our art - no that wasnt a criticism of either ones singin but if MCFAT does that banjo stuff again we could be in trouble |
Subject: RE: Whitby.... From: gnomad Date: 20 Mar 04 - 08:35 AM I'll be at them all (and the Capt Cook weekend during the autumn) in fact I'm here now. It's a great place, and if you stay for long enough everyone comes there eventually, a bit like Rome, but cooler. |
Subject: RE: Whitby.... From: Bassic Date: 20 Mar 04 - 08:44 AM I suspect me and Rock Chick will be trying to be in two places at once over the May weekend, Barrow/Hull for the Euro Gathering and Moor and Coast for a few sessions. Stewing at Folk week as usual. |

Subject: RE: Whitby.... From: Emma B Date: 22 Mar 04 - 01:47 PM I won't be able to make Folk Week this year as we will be in Scotland but hope to get to MUSICPORT Oct 22-24 for the first time Does anyone know of any self catering accomodation available for that weekend? |
Subject: RE: Whitby.... From: alanww Date: 22 Mar 04 - 02:19 PM Yes, Whitby is a great venue for singing and music! The fringe is particularly good, with many great pubs with singing and music sessions. I will be freewheeling at Whitby Folk Week between 21 & 27 August and will be singing for the Shellback Chorus at the Captain Cook Shanty Festival on 22-24 October. But unfortunately cannot make the Moor & Coast, as it clashes with Upton Folk Festival (again with the Shellbacks). "I thought I heard the old man say ...!" Alan |

Subject: RE: Whitby.... From: Rasener Date: 23 Mar 04 - 02:01 AM Link for the Moor & Coast event. http://www.moorandcoast.co.uk/ |
Subject: RE: Whitby.... From: Mrs.Duck Date: 23 Mar 04 - 07:16 AM I hadn't got a firm date for the Captain Cook festival is that now official, Alan? |
Subject: RE: Whitby.... From: alanww Date: 23 Mar 04 - 12:28 PM Hiya Jane Yes, this website gives those dates! See you there ... and many places elsewhere before then! "... John Kanaka-naka, too lie aye!" Alan |
Subject: RE: Whitby.... From: alanww Date: 23 Mar 04 - 12:48 PM But then again, maybe that is not the right festival! You have got me concerned now, Jane. The official website seems to be two years old! I'll have another search tomorrow to see if it is confirmed anywhere, but I've got to go now. "... and its mighty draughty around Cape Horn! Alan |
Subject: RE: Whitby.... From: Mrs.Duck Date: 23 Mar 04 - 01:19 PM Last year the musicport festival and captain cooks were on different weekends and one clashed with the Goths! There was a lot of confusion and some folk just turned up on the wrong weekend. |
Subject: RE: Whitby.... From: Alio Date: 23 Mar 04 - 01:55 PM As Pat said we'll all be there for Whitby Folk Week, and Geoff and I will be staying in our favourite pub, The Endeavour, for Moor and Coast - can't wait! I love Whitby! Ali |
Subject: RE: Whitby.... From: Mrs.Duck Date: 23 Mar 04 - 02:15 PM I thought the Endeavour had stopped doing accomodation or is this just a friendly arrangement? I only ask because we have stayed in the past and would do so again if they were doing it (not at Moor and Coast though) |
Subject: RE: Whitby.... From: Alio Date: 23 Mar 04 - 02:49 PM It's just a friendly thing! We're very lucky that we can stay there. Rosie was just finding it too much - who can blame her? It's my favourite place to stay in Whitby. |
