You might assume all the living ex-presidents are enemies of Donald Trump, but the biggest enemies are the handful of Presidents who faced the precipice of Democracy's failure.
That would be Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

Lincoln for holding the Union together and the Emancipation Act.
Teddy, as the first progressive who wanted universal suffrage, National lands and parks, and the Panama Canal, and FDR for saving the banks, social security, the CCC to give jobs back to the common man, and defeating the Nazis.

He and his personal defense attorney have sliced a hole through the bottom of the treasury's bag of cash and are letting it pour into their pockets. And codifying the blinders to look the other way.

At some point this will unravel and Trump will finally pay for some of his crimes. It's probably going to happen because of a small thing that they ignore that finally manages to bring him to a screeching halt. A modest public servant somewhere doing the right thing and start the dominoes tumbling.

I don't think Trump is going to pay for his crimes. When the time comes for justice, his lawyers will say he is not fit to stand trial, physically and/or mentally (his bone spurs are playing up), and I bet they can buy medical opinions to back that.

Thanks for the long list, SRS. I didn't think I would have any more suggestions but a term I use sometimes is "drop off the twig" which is similar to "hop the twig". I am also in the habit of saying "popped her/his clogs".

In the case of Drumpf, I think we can eliminate any references to heaven, angels, the rainbow bridge etc. Also as he managed to swerve away from serving in the military the terms referring to "ultimate sacrifice" are not relevant, as well as "bought the farm" which refers to a military person dying in the service of her/his country and compensation being paid to the family.

I expect that releasing Colbert into the wild might have big implications for Drumpf - bigger than he expects. The cancellation of his show has already increased political awareness and determination, so the desired effect was the exact opposite of the orange one's intention. IMHO
