Subject: RE: BS: Rick's health Update From: wysiwyg Date: 23 Sep 03 - 01:07 PM Rick, I just got off the phone with Giac, who hopes to PM you when she gets another chance to use her lousy computer with her lousy, can't-sit back.... she asks me to convey that you are very much in her thoughts and prayers as she also deals with cancer, and that you have always been one of her most favorite people around this place. love, ~Susan |

Just to let you know, cyberbuddy, that we are still thinking of you and sending good thoughts. RtS |
Subject: RE: BS: Rick's health Update From: SINSULL Date: 24 Sep 03 - 12:51 PM I say a prayer for you every day Rick. Still can't understand why you went with Heather's suggestion and didn't do an Everly Bros. song at the Getaway. You would think she was something special or something. You owe me one. Don't try to get out of it. The Getaway '04, guitar in hand, and "Bye Bye, Love". Stay well, my friend. Mary |

Subject: RE: BS: Rick's health Update From: Deckman Date: 25 Sep 03 - 08:26 PM Hey Rick, I caught a very nice 7 LB Silver salmon yesterday in the Snohomish river, five minutes from my house. "Bride Judy" wanted to have it for supper, but I said "Heck no, let's mail it to Rick!" So this morning I put it in the snail mail post box. If you see a large, and very smelly package arrive sometime next week, perhaps you should not open it! CHEERS, and thinking of you, Bob(deckman)nelson ((you do believe that I mailed you a salmon, don't you?)) |

There's never enough time to hear all your wonderful music. Keep the faith. Keep getting better. Wishing you freedom from pain, freedom from fear, and a deep knowledge of how much you and Heather are loved. And know that Bill and Art and I and everyone else are pulling for you, thinking healing thoughts, wishing you well, missing you.....you name it. Much love to you and to Heather! (You have to get better because you have to meet my three NEW cats! Tossie and Misty have gone to the great Cathouse In The Sky, but my life is now enriched by Marble (calico, 13 lb.,5-yr-old), Buddy (grey & white, 10-lb, 2-year-old), and Zeke (big--14.5 lb.--brown tabby, 1.5-yr-old). Zeke came inside just before the hurricane and has been pronounced free from FIV, feline leukemia, fleas, worms, and all bad habits. You'll love him! XOXXOO Kath |
Subject: RE: BS: Rick's health Update From: Rustic Rebel Date: 25 Sep 03 - 10:25 PM Rick, With all of this good energy coming your way, it should be making you strong enough to give the cancer a good, hard, kick in the balls, then while it's down toss it out the back door. Hey, I still want to come and hear you play (a)live one of these days, so please don't give up the fight. Sending you healing thoughts, Sue |

Subject: RE: BS: Rick's health Update From: Joybell Date: 30 Sep 03 - 07:41 PM I'm new here but so many of you feel like old friends already. Rick, I just wanted to say that I'm sending my best wishes too. "If wishes were horses beggars would ride" my mother always said but I never knew how that helped, not being in need of a horse. If you would like a horse though, consider it sent. Sorry to get all flippant and silly but I escaped the big C (without too much trouble) and even that was scary. Good luck. A new friend Joy |

Subject: RE: BS: Rick's health Update From: GUEST,MMario Date: 16 Oct 03 - 03:01 PM and here I was checking the weather and thinking "great - it'll be warmer!" guess "chilly" and "warm" are relative... lows are suppossed to be in the forties -and I've been waking to frost and ice on the windshield - so I'm looking forward to "nice" weather. |
Subject: RE: BS: Rick's health Update From: Roger in Baltimore Date: 17 Oct 03 - 12:05 PM Rick, I don't get on the Mudcat very often these days. I'm only on line at work. Subject: RE: BS: Rick's health Update From: Rick Fielding Date: 19 Oct 03 - 11:35 AM Sorry I couldn't get in before folks left for the getaway, but I was flat on my back for a week being seriously miserable. Cramps, diahrea, all the good stuff. Sure am missing being there, I'll tell you that, though. Went to the hospital and got "re-hydrated" (they pump tons of saline into you.) Hope to feel better this week. Thanks for the good wishes. Rick |
Subject: RE: BS: Rick's health Update From: bbc Date: 19 Oct 03 - 12:43 PM Ah, Rick, ups & downs. Sorry to hear about this down. I hope there will be some good "ups" in your future. I didn't make it to the Get-Away either, but did have a nice time getting back to ballroom dancing after 8 years away. We appreciate you stopping in to let us know how you're doing! love, Barbara |

Subject: RE: BS: Rick's health Update From: Willie-O Date: 19 Oct 03 - 06:55 PM Amen to that. Bill Another Atheist For Miracles By the way, did I mention my mother-in-law has beaten cancer three times? She's supposed to be dead from the second time (1996) by now--instead she went another round last year and is doing very well. For her, it's all attitude. |
Subject: RE: BS: Rick's health Update From: katlaughing Date: 19 Oct 03 - 07:01 PM Sorry you've been miserable but it sure is GOOD to hear from you, darlin'! I know they're all singing and pickin' with you in mind at the Getaway. Ol' cancer doesn't like hanging around so much light and love, ya know, so take a cue from Willie and welcome that unbelievable miracle. luvya, kat & Rog |

Subject: RE: BS: Rick's health Update From: KathWestra Date: 19 Oct 03 - 11:38 PM Well, Rick and Heather, I'm just back from the Getaway (have to work tomorrow. Most folks are still there, lucky dogs), and if you had a dollar for every time somebody at the Getaway mentioned how much you and Heather were missed, you'd have a lot more dough than you could ever make in a typical gig as a folksinger! It was a coldish, but crystal clear perfect fall weekend--perfect except for those two Toronto friends who weren't joining their voices with ours. We missed you greatly, dears. Sorry for the miserable week, Rick, but dearly hope you're feeling better for the fluids you got. Love you loads always. Kathy |

Subject: RE: BS: Rick's health Update From: GUEST,arnie Date: 21 Oct 03 - 11:39 AM I was at the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals this weekend. I often thought of you Rick. I wish you could have been there with us. You are a hero in the traditional music booster department, and there was a huge lack in that department there. Yes I did a banjo showcase - I think we got in by some fluke or something, but it's painfully obvious that traditional music is the farthest thing from artistic directors minds these days. If things keep going that way, authentic trad music will be totally in the history books as far as Ontario festivals are concerned. We owe you a great deal Rick - we'd like (need) you back. Me and Kathy will be doing a Ragged But Right recording this coming year - can't wait to use your beautifully crafted leather sign again and often! Thinking of you, Arnie |
