Subject: BS: NH Primary Politics From: Jeri Date: 19 Dec 07 - 09:53 PM I would have been more specific, but other folks may want to jump in with different candidates. I got a phone call last night. Free concert in Portsmouth tomorrow: Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne. Peter Coyote and... taDA - John Edwards. I replied, 'Did you say FREE?!' So I was being stupid. Wasn't the first time, won't be the last. The person asked if I knew who I was going to vote for yet, and I said 'no'. Would I be interested in coming? This was the first time a candidate's people have ever invited me to go listen to them, and I'll listen to anybody - at least for a while. I went. Here's what happened. Now, I'm still open to other candidates and if Obama's people ask me to come listen, I will. Edwards sounded passionate and real, an idealist with a firm grasp of reality. I don't get that from most other candidates, and even the ones who have good ideas lack the fire. Others drift wherever the polls blow them. Still have some time before the primary. Being in the teeny state with the first primary is exciting at times. There really ARE house parties, where candidates still talk to small gatherings of folks in somebody's house. Of course, I've also been hit up by 3 pollsters in the last two days, and I don't have any idea how many times I've heard, 'Please hold for a message from...' The dead tree battle has come down to McCain vs. Edwards. If you just go by stuff that comes through the post, McCain has won. But I have a fairly thick booklet of Edwards's platform and plans that tips the balance. New Hampshire 20 days before the primary is an interesting place to be. So do the rest of you feel jealous... or lucky? P.S. Bonnie Raitt & Jackson Brown were great, Peter Coyote is hunkier in real life than elsewhere, and John Edwards has a great handshake. |

Subject: RE: BS: NH Primary Politics From: Ron Davies Date: 19 Dec 07 - 11:45 PM Good for you. A good concert, and Edwards seems to be a sensible guy--and, like Obama, is willing to take a stand. His "2 Americas" is certainly a fact. And you're in the catbird seat, (though it's cold in NH, I expect). Why not take advantage of the opportunity? |
