Subject: Needing help finding arrangments. From: GUEST,Squeezy Date: 13 Feb 09 - 10:47 AM Hey people, I recently joined a quartet with two violins, guitar and a piano. We're all comfortably grade 7 on our instruments so difficulty of tunes isn't a problem usually and we have tons upon tons of tunes to choose from. However, we can't get past the stage where we just play them through and we're pretty hopeless arranging them! It would be reallllly appreciated if anyone could tell me a website that has arrangments already done on it or if anyone's written some themselves! I can be contacted on stuindahouse@hotmail.co.uk Thanks |

Subject: RE: Needing help finding arrangments. From: Jack Campin Date: 13 Feb 09 - 11:09 AM Is the whole group that quartet, or is it a quintet with you playing a squeezy thing as well, as your name suggests? If so, you might find that standard tango quintet music would work with only minimal changes. You won't get it free (but there is a lot of free tango music in keyboard arrangements so you can see what you might like before shelling out). |

Subject: RE: Needing help finding arrangments. From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 13 Feb 09 - 06:45 PM Here's what I would do if I were you. I'd get some music software (I use Noteworthy Composer) and a MIDI controller. Then you can tap into the great collection of free music in MIDI form which is available on the Internet. With the music software, you can download the mIDI files and modify them if you wish to. You can write new parts, change the key, change clef, all kinds of things. For example, listen to Danny Boy version 3 from this site: Jacks MIDI site That is an arrangement by Chet Atkins, just sitting there waiting for somebody to come along and enjoy it. |
