Subject: Obituary:John Croall From: Johnny J Date: 04 Jun 24 - 03:00 PM More sad news, especially just a few days after the passing of Rod Paterson. I've just heard that John Croall, also a founder member of Jock Tamson's Bairns and previously Chorda/Chorda Cleich passed away yesterday. John was a fine singer in his own right although stylistically different from that of Rod. Condolences to all friends and family Here's JTB with John on vocals https://youtu.be/h59VqSCoe4k |

Subject: RE: 2024 Obituary: John Croall From: Johnny J Date: 04 Jun 24 - 04:13 PM Yes, some of the members from earlier line ups are still with us..e.g. Jack Evans, Adam Jack but it's been a long time since they regularly played with the band. It's certainly the end of an era, however. |

Subject: RE: 2024 Obituary: John Croall From: GUEST Date: 04 Jan 26 - 09:40 PM This is such a blow. Losing John so soon after Rod is incredibly sad news for the Scottish folk scene. Jock Tamson's Bairns were such a force, and John's distinct vocal style was a key part of their sound. I remember seeing them live years ago - they had this energy that was just infectious. It makes me think of times when Sprunki and I sang along with their tunes. My deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and all those who loved his music. |
