Hi everyone:

I've been playing a tune from Thompson's 200 Country Dances that sounds to me very much as if it should be a song, and the odd title adds to the puzzle.

Can anyone tell me please, is there a song 'Sanctified Sue' and are the lyrics (if any) and history knowable please?

Sanctified Sue is an old tune from the 1700's. No record of lyrics. There is also a jazz tune entitled, Sanctified Sue, but I doubt it's the same.

Thanks everyone! I do think the tune plays gvery nicely, but I've still intrigued by the name.
