Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: Stilly River Sage Date: 23 Jan 04 - 08:18 PM Perhaps you should get yourself a good writer/proofreader/editor before offering a good website, etc. |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: GUEST Date: 23 Jan 04 - 08:37 PM Are you ALWAYS rude? |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: katlaughing Date: 23 Jan 04 - 09:17 PM SRS, it may have lost some formatting when posted. Thanks for the info, Chris. Good luck! kat |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: Amos Date: 24 Jan 04 - 11:03 AM Ennyfing to proamute goode musix, I sai. Dont' yew agreee? A |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: kendall Date: 24 Jan 04 - 11:32 AM AGE DISCRIMINATION |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: Tinker Date: 24 Jan 04 - 11:44 AM Kendall it says 60 and above..... |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: Stilly River Sage Date: 24 Jan 04 - 11:53 AM Kat, it was a simple observation, with the meaning altered by our nasty visitor. This guest appears to be stalking some of the threads I post to and making confrontational or nasty remarks on each, directed specifically at me. I'll call it to the attention of Joe Offer. Meanwhile, if someone is attempting to drum up business and is advertising on Mudcat, then they should be aware that first impressions are very important. The message should be seamless and absolutely clear. HOW they say what they say is as important as the message they tried to deliver. It looks to me like a new or up-and-coming business. They need to put themselves forward with good grammar in well-written sentences. SRS |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: Cluin Date: 24 Jan 04 - 11:58 AM I am an artist and I would like to be promoted... to eccentric millionaire, please. |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: GUEST,Ed Date: 24 Jan 04 - 12:18 PM I'm in Manchester, and write an occasional song. Please give me lots of money. |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: katlaughing Date: 24 Jan 04 - 12:19 PM Regardless, SRS, it doesn't hurt to be a bit more welcoming and helpful to a newcomer, i.e. "Hi, welcome to the Mudcat! Before you post, you might want to use the Preview button to make sure your formatting comes through in the way that you intend. In the meantime, have a look around and enjoy!" That's not so difficult now, is it? kat |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: Stilly River Sage Date: 24 Jan 04 - 12:38 PM I'm an English Major, Kat. Keep the scolds offline, please. |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: GUEST Date: 24 Jan 04 - 12:43 PM You should follow your own advice. When people are offering help in anyway, it is bad manners to answer with a trite put down. |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: Stilly River Sage Date: 24 Jan 04 - 12:58 PM Stalking some more? |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: GUEST Date: 24 Jan 04 - 12:58 PM PS I was the guest you "tangled" with on the weight loss thread. The insults were flying one way only, and it was from your direction, Maybe a touch of denial going on there? The COUNTING SHEEP put down you recieved however, was not from me, please do check with Joe, and be sure to get back to me. Having 4 kids I also talk about them way too much, but find it considerate to keep my ramblings to those who know them. However I do not object to you confusing me for him, as I fully echo his sentiment. But would not have posted it. However your response to the guy above who started this thread is sheer ignorance on your part. You may have majored in something, but it sure wasn't manners. We are using your posts in an educational way, along the lines of, " Hey kids, not all adults are to be respected, they have to earn it too." The FATHEAD comment was particularly useful, I had to explain it to my youngest, he says you are a rude person, lets hope that isn't the example you are setting your kids.He also can not comprehend that a grown up thinks coke is a suitable drink for kids, says it all really. |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: kendall Date: 24 Jan 04 - 01:04 PM But Tinker, I'm only 15! I look older because I've had a hard life rode hard and put away wet too often. |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: Stilly River Sage Date: 24 Jan 04 - 01:13 PM Since the party who started the thread is not a Mudcat member, there is no way to send a PM to him, which I would have done. Since they want to drum up business, suggesting they do it in a way that looks professional is a utilitarian sort of response. It is preferable to me to contact an unknown party through Mudcat rather than writing to the personal email listed at the end (anticipating that rejoinder). Kat knows better than to start squabbling in the threads, and I hope she knows I have no argument with her, but don't appreciate her "mom voice" in this instance. That tone does not calm anything, it irritates. Guests who behave like trolls in one place then go about posting nasty retorts everywhere else to get even are an annoyance we have had to live with in the open society at Mudcat. If you're teaching your children to be as intolerant as yourself, as you were when you were abusing list members on the thread where people who wish to lose weight were discussing strategies and progress, then your children will be trolls too. |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: Amos Date: 24 Jan 04 - 02:16 PM The simple fact is, if you refuse to use some sort of name, you have no right to complain when you get confused with others. That's the price you pay for not being willing to operate an identity well. A |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: GUEST,In the Studio Date: 24 Jan 04 - 02:28 PM Why not keep on Thread?? Posting sad sarcastic remarks in reply to an offer of help to promote artistes of any genre and age (under sixteen's would not be allowed to play in a lot of venues and cannot be signed) seems very unbecoming.... SRS - maybe you don't have a "Troll" following you just a lot people who object to your comments! - "I'm an English Major" - I presume that you are referring to your rank in the army???? Back to thread... Chris, cheers, I will email you with info on our band, and pass on details to other local bands that may be interested - in the meantime "Best of luck" - welcome to Mudcat, and sorry you met up with what is a small number of Mudcat's less friendly and helpful "Members" on this visit SRS - just have another look at your last posting - you may find you're the pot calling the kettle black! PJS |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: GUEST,blinker hilight Date: 24 Jan 04 - 02:37 PM "Max Now Works on The Schemm Team" what's with the subliminal message/link at the bottom of the page????? |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: GUEST,In the Studio Date: 24 Jan 04 - 03:15 PM I have re-posted this thread as I feel the offer may be of use to other Mudcat members/readers. hope that's ok with Chris |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: Stilly River Sage Date: 24 Jan 04 - 03:22 PM PJS, you did Chris a favor in reposting the message. The bickering going on over here isn't going to help anyone. But the "sarcasm" you read in my response was brought to the message by you the reader, not placed there by me as writer. It was simply a matter-of-fact statement. Kat occasionally inserts "pedant alert" when she posts similar remarks. I skipped the redundancy. |
Subject: RE: Looking for Artists to promote II From: GUEST Date: 24 Jan 04 - 03:28 PM We will not charge you for anything Do you honestly expect us to believe that? Therefore you will not loose any money I need you to learn how to spell and the difference between 'lose' and 'loose' before I commit any money. Thank you. |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: GUEST,in the studio - finished the CD's - wahooooo Date: 24 Jan 04 - 03:30 PM SRS - I accept your comment re. sarcasm but not the need for your post. Hopefully the re-thread will make Chris et al realise that Mudcat is a place for everyone to help each other and not bite the hand that feeds it. PJS Too happy to be uptight :-) |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: GUEST Date: 24 Jan 04 - 03:46 PM Don't waste your time, Stilly River Sage |
Subject: RE: Looking for Artists to promote II From: GUEST,in the studio Date: 24 Jan 04 - 03:47 PM Guest - I re-posted the thread hoping that the sad element on Mudcat might give a new visitor a chance - I was obviously wrong - as the thread was directed at groups/artists and clearly says they will make their "cut" from the venues so a) yes "us" can believe that b) they are not asking you to commit any money so you won't loose/lose it whether they can spell or not! "I need you to learn how to spell ..." - very succinct! PJS |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: katlaughing Date: 24 Jan 04 - 03:49 PM SRS, I took your first posting at face value; it had nothing to do with the GUEST posting. First impressions are important, as you pointed out. As for the "mom voice" and the touting of academics...not worthy of a response. |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote From: GUEST Date: 24 Jan 04 - 03:50 PM Don't talk to yourself GUEST! |
Subject: RE: Looking for Artists to promote II From: GUEST Date: 24 Jan 04 - 03:59 PM The 'sad' element? How to win friends and influence people... |
Subject: RE: Looking for Artists to promote II From: GUEST Date: 24 Jan 04 - 04:06 PM I see the original post has now been removed quite rightly |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote (test thread) From: GUEST Date: 24 Jan 04 - 04:09 PM BS looks like making music and promoting music has nothing to do with Making music! DUH |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote (test thread) From: GUEST Date: 24 Jan 04 - 04:09 PM AMOS I did not complain about being confused with another guest, quite the contrary, I pointed out that I had no objection at all, as I echoed his sentiment. What part of that are you having difficulty understanding? SRS The damage is done, stop trying to wriggle out of your rudeness, we all know what you meant, now go and put your kids to bed and do us all a favour. |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote (test thread) From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 24 Jan 04 - 05:43 PM I refuse to post to this thread... |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote (test thread) From: Stilly River Sage Date: 24 Jan 04 - 05:55 PM Geez--you're all going f**king bonkers today. Go outside for a while, and play nice with the other children. I'm not "wiggling" out of any rudeness, because I was not intending to be rude, and don't consider my simple statement to be something to apologize for. See if you all can't find something better to do with your day than snipe at me or argue with some GUEST with a chip on his shoulder. |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote (test thread) From: GUEST Date: 24 Jan 04 - 06:11 PM "wriggling" not "wiggling", seems you're all out of arse. |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote (test thread) From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 24 Jan 04 - 06:50 PM OK, I will now post. I sympathise with SRS. In one of my early forays here, I made an offhand comment, and soon I was "Piggy In The Middle". This is a game I remember from childhood. Everybody gangs up on a victim, who can't get out of the circle, and the onlookers avoid getting involved. Read "Lord of the Flies". I got out of the PITM game by finding the "button" of one of the originators - something I am fiendishly good at, unbfortunately, and I regularly hold myself back. I still support not allowing unnamed GUEST posters to post here, but then I acknowledge that I am a bigot in some things. :-) Robin |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote (test thread) From: GUEST,The Pig Date: 24 Jan 04 - 07:55 PM who's got the stick now? |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote (test thread) From: GUEST Date: 24 Jan 04 - 08:02 PM The game I see is when lots of quieter folks stand up to the bully. An apology could have avoided this. |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote (test thread) From: Cluin Date: 25 Jan 04 - 02:22 AM I'm sorry. |
Subject: RE: Looking For Artists to Promote (test thread) From: Rustic Rebel Date: 25 Jan 04 - 03:45 AM No offense (please) Joe, but I think when you moved this thread to the bullshit section, that is exactly what it became. Love you all but hate your fucking bickering Rustic |
