Hi,

I have seen many posts on here asking where Dave Turner is now.

he's my dad, and he's still in Nottingham. I'm trying to get songs he's done in the past and chase up stories and things about him.

if anyone can help please get in contact with me by email to...

That's not the same Dave Turner who read mining engineering at Nottingham University from about 1969/72 is it?

No this guy used to write very funny songs, he was on Joe Stead's Sweet Folk and Country label in the 1970's.

He was from Nottingham, so he wrote a song aout Robin Hood called Ban the Bow. he did another one called the Farting Song.

And he'd studied the mannerisms of Rob Wilton. A great talent. He had this sideline in the 1960's, a polythene bag full of pills. at his gigs you could score in the interval when you bought your raffle ticket.

In the 1960's I scored some acid off him, but it turned out to be speed. I just had a matronly half tab - as I was scared of going round murdering all the first born of our generation or something. I just got very paranoid and talked a lot.

i knew dave as a bloke who sang at peasmouldia in derby, i think at the pub in midland road. hits were; there's a triffid at the bottom of my garden... there's a dalek and its trying to rape my dustbin. joan baez had album out with i had a dog and its name was blue, dave brought house down with i had a dog its name was green, smelliest dog i've ever seen, last verse was, i found out 42 years later, i found out 32 years later, i found out 22 years later, green was a thalidomide alligator. still singing the bits i can remember, after all these years.
