the other nite -- i was telling a couple of japanese students -- that i was able to find some friends through the internet that i hadn't been able to fine for 25 to 30 years-- and various other things i.e out of print books/music etc. --and how amazing i thought the internet was-- well one of the students asked if i could try to find a friend of his that's somewhere in London --that he lost touch with (about five years ago)--i agreed to try although -i know how to look in the U.S. via the net national phone pages -- but outside th U.S. i don't know--- anybody in the U.K. have any ideas ?------ the only information i have on the person i'm looking for is ------- his name ----- Kazutaka Kitano--and his former address--74a royal college st

thanks JoT---the bt was what was trying to find THANKS !--i couldn't locate the person i'm looking (i found 3 kitanos though) -- is there an e-mail finder i could try ?--- thanks again !

Get the address of the local Police Station and write to them - if they think you've a very good reason to locate these people they will help. However they may not help since only family is allowed to do this kind of thing, otherwise you may advertise in the local paper of that 'Borough' be sure it is the local paper not The Daily Express for example, another easier way is call the Japanese Consul's office.

It might be worth ringing one of the other Kitanos, then, if they are in the London area.

Many people choose not to be in email directories who are happy to be included in phone directories, and as far as I know there are no national email databases (WHAT a treat they would be for "spammers").

The problem in getting help tracing people like this is that the people who might be in a position to help have no way of ensuring that your motives in the quest are good. But good luck with the investigation!!
