Subject: BS: BOFs credo From: MGM·Lion Date: 30 Sep 11 - 07:29 AM To share with my friends on Mudcat. Anyone agree? Or disagree strongly? Or whevs ~~~~ - Boring·Old·Fart's credo: to which, at nearly 80, feel self entitled: viz that my Literature shall be Comprehensible; my Art shall be Representational; my Music shall be Tonal: naught else shall penetrate my perception-zone. — MtheBOF |

Subject: RE: BS: BOFs credo From: Bill D Date: 30 Sep 11 - 07:40 AM not bad...but I must add a couple I shall not be subjected to any credo but that of my own devising--which may change hourly. ☺ and one I borrowed from an old carpenter: I shall not do TOO good of a job, or folks might begin to expect it! |

Subject: RE: BS: BOFs credo From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 30 Sep 11 - 09:05 AM ""I shall not do TOO good of a job, or folks might begin to expect it!"" I was once hauled over the coals by a foreman for taking too long fitting skirting board, because my joints were perfect. He said "Cut 'em and fit 'em, and leave the rest to the painters. That's why they carry filler!" I asked for me cards on the spot, and found a job with a decent company. Don T. |

I was once criticised for making a computing system easy to configure. Because if it was difficult, the firm could justify charging clients for a consultant to do it. |

Subject: RE: BS: BOFs credo From: GUEST,Eliza Date: 30 Sep 11 - 11:59 AM I took a student job in Edinburgh in the sixties, cleaning the rooms in a Nurses' Home. I went much too fast, and the 'old hands', middle-aged ladies, said, "Dinnae knock yer pan in, hain!" They didn't want their supervisor to realise the job could be done quite speedily. So my credo should include "I willnae knock ma pan in." |
