I have the lyrics to this beautiful song ; it starts off like this: Wander wild and homeless, All roads lead to you, Riding wind and laughing, at the moon. Does anyone know who wrote it and also where I may get the tune?

Hi, Anika - your thread title says this is a "mother song," so I expected one of those sweet, sentimental old things. This one sounds more like a song about a mother wolf. It really sounds interesting. Where did you hear it? Anything else you recall about the song that might help us find it? It sounds vaguely familiar. If you can give a few more hints, maybe it will trigger my memory. If you have the complete lyrics, please post them.

Hi, Joe! I heard this song at a singing circle. One of the members brought it in.I have no hint to the writer other than it is not a new song, probably from the sixties or seventies as it was o vinyl. The lyrics are as follows;

Wander wild and homeless, All roads lead to you,
Riding wind and laughing, at the moon.
Fear and longing gone now, Day and night the same,
Knowing that the Mother knows, my name.
Needing nothing of my own, Joy is one with pain,
Drifting free, my life, her love, sustains.
Care not who or what I am, In her arms the wine,
Face the babe before it knows to smile.
Wander wlid and homeless, All roads lead to you,
Riding wind and laughing, at the moon.
(aaah-oooooo)(my wolf impression)

The end. The tune was quite meditative and lent itself to wonderful harmonies.

Ah, so it WAS a wolf song! Something makes me think Claudia Schmidt may have recorded it. I'll look around and see if I can find it.

It is MOTHER SONG, written by Bhagavan Das, and recorded by Luscious Trance on an album called "New Tribal Music," 1997. Allmusic.com classifies it as "New Age."

There are two web sites about Bhagavan Das:

www.bhagavandas.org

www.bhagavandas.com
