There is a classic philosophy problem originally involving Jason's Argo but now more commonly referred to as Washington's axe. The stoey is that this object is claimed to be Washington's axe, except the head has been replaced twice and the handle three times. This problem is often dismissed aa the aort of thing philosophers worry about with no significant relationship to the real world.

I watched the new Star wars film yesterday and in oder to make a sensible prequel they needed Peter Cushing who inconveniently had died. So they made a CGI version. And here is the Washington axe problem in real life. Cushing's estate would expect to be - and probably was - paid for this, but there is nothing concrete of the original actor. He had no part in it whatsoever. So you could say why is his estate entitled to anything. On the other hand, if the omage was not.of Cushing, the story would not work.

I dont care what actual fee was paid; I am interested in how we decide what a suitable payment is.

Over to you for ideas.

I thought the more common description (in the UK at least) was "Trigger's Broom" (from 'Only Fools & Horses')

At least in the US you own your image. If it is used with your consent you should be compensated by whatever way was agreed upon. If it was used without your consent, well, just ask how many zeros come to the left of the decimal point. If it's used by law enforcement, well....

Surely 0.50 is the same as 00000000000.50
Unless you mean how many zeros come up between the first significant figure and the decimal point.
