I've just joined the society. It was my new years resolution to learn to play the uke. And I'm making a bit of progress. Nothing dazzling as yet - but I'm working on it.

Has anyone else been to one of the Blackpool get-togethers?

If so, would you recommend them? And where would you stop in Blackpool?

If you haven't already seen it, Frank Skinner's documentary on George Formby gives you a flavour of what the meet-ups are like:

yes thankyou. i've seen it. i'm not a celebrity though.   i'm not sure how it would be for someone who doesn't know anyone.

There are literally hundreds of places to stay in Blackpool, Al. Range from cheap B&Bs to top notch hotels. Depends what you want as well. If you like lively, stop near the centre. If you like quiet, stay on the outskirts and use the excellent tram or bus service. I see the society meet at the Imperial Hotel. You could probably get a deal there.

yes the costs aren't prohibitive. the journey is a bit intimidating. there are four a year. one next weekend, but I'm not good enough yet. perhaps i will be good enough by september.
