New thread because the coronavirus one is getting too long.

The GF had a letter from the UK Gov, Imperial College, NHS and Ipsos-Mori (pollsters) inviting her to partake in the sample testing of a COVID-19 antibody test. All good news though they probably want to see how good the process is (statistically).

My chagrin at not getting a letter turned into laughter when she tried to register on the given website. Her browser reported a suspect certificate. And warned her not to proceed.

More government running before they can walk. Borish is out of his depth.

There is a Freephone helpline number for anyone unable to access the website to register.
There are many things the govt can be criticised for, but I don’t think this is one of them. Any new system like this is likely to have technical teething problems.

Adobe insists on a monthly update. The updater used to say 'Adobe' but recently the browser says 'unknown' so don't proceed. You have to have the update so you have to proceed and ingnore the warning. Technology.

I have seen this techie ignorance many times.

Like the county IT department being told that putting a date in the filename of the page for an annual event disenfranchises all the people who have bookmarked the webpage. Yet 10 years on they still insist that their neat & tidiness (of thinking) is the most effective methodology. In the real word it ain't automatically true. When the shortcomings are pointed-out it is hubris below intelligence to ignore such warnings. But they is the experts! Yea, right!

"no further than nose" seems to spring to mind!
