The date for the domestication of fire just got pushed back from 50,000 years to 400,000 years.

Needs a memorial. Or a celebratory morris dance about twirling sticks.

The earliest culture on the site was Clactonian, and there are tools in Clacton to this day.

I wonder what dating methods they used? Too far back for carbon-14. And it wasn't twirling sticks - they were using flint and pyrites, just like a cigarette lighter. Pity they didn't find traces of the lighter fuel...
