Subject: Lyr Req: Public Domain AABA songs From: GUEST,nycdan@att.net Date: 06 Oct 03 - 11:05 AM Help! I'm writing a book, and need to use a popular AABA song as an example of the AABA structure. I've been using "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", but my publisher says there will be a copywright issue and suggested choosing a folk song or something from the 1890s. I'm having a heck of a time finding something that everyone is familiar with. Any suggestions? I'd greatly appreciate your help. Thanks, Dan |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Public Domain AABA songs From: GUEST Date: 06 Oct 03 - 01:14 PM Suggest that your publisher contact the folks who own the copyright and ask permission to use it--they grant it regularly, because I have a stack of books, including works about theatre, film, songwriting and of course, books about the Wizard of Oz, each of which contains all or some of the words--one book even has additional verses that were not included in the film--there is no reason that I can think of for you to make your text less interesting because your publisher is lazy-- |
