Subject: BS: National Grassroots Association From: Alice Date: 19 Feb 04 - 07:17 PM Here is a web site that has been a part of the Dean campaign in organizing leaders of the grassroots movement. It is going onward with the continuation of Dean's mission to empower Americans to be able to make changes in campaign financing and media control among other goals. This was National Grassroots for Dean, and will continue as National Grassroots. Probably will be able to find Meetups for this in many places. http://www.NationalGrassroots.us/ |

Subject: RE: BS: National Grassroots Association From: katlaughing Date: 19 Feb 04 - 10:19 PM Thanks, Alice. I am so glad that he and others are going to keep that momentum alive. Good goals and quite doable, imo. I continue to support MoveOn, also. |
Subject: RE: BS: National Grassroots Association From: Alice Date: 19 Feb 04 - 10:51 PM Yes, Moveon has an amazing number of people who have joined in activism, over two million members in the US and growing fast. from a recent MoveON email: ".... on Friday, we finished our $10 million Voter Fund grassroots fundraising campaign without a dime from corporations or special interests. In the end, over 170,000 people opened their checkbooks and contributed an average of about $60 to put ads on the air that challenge Bush and his corporate backers. The impact of this campaign shouldn't be underestimated: it clearly demonstrates that real people still matter in American politics. And the folks in Washington know it." |
