Subject: Greg Graffin, Omie Wise tune? From: Bee Date: 10 Nov 06 - 02:18 PM I can't listen to tunes on my computer, and the only version of Omie Wise I'm familiar with is Graffin's. I researched Omie Wise here and note that the Doc Watson lyrics are pretty close to Graffin's, but the chords noted didn't seem to work for the tune I know. For anyone who has heard these, is Graffin's tune similar to Watson's (or the other version)? I'm just learning to work out chords, and Am G - Am Em Am seems to work for me - but I'm very open to advice or correction. |

From: Scoville Date: 10 Nov 06 - 04:11 PM I am not familiar with Greg Graffin at all but the clip I found online is VERY similar to Doc Watson's, right down to the fingerpicked guitar. However, it was just a clip so I don't know what the whole song sounds like. |
Subject: RE: Greg Graffin, Omie Wise tune? From: M.Ted Date: 10 Nov 06 - 05:32 PM Just listened to the Greg Graffin version and the Doc Watson back to back, and I think that one comes from the other. The G.B. Grayson version is different, and more interesting, at least to my mind. I also remember a Dock Boggs version, but I haven't heard it for years--it may have been the model for the Watson version-- |
