One of the original actors is still in it. Lots of English people have grown up with it from hearing it when their Mum's and Dad's (and grandparents) listened to it. Some of the characters are the great grandchildren of the originals. It's a soap with history! And something of a British institution. Love Lynne |

Listen to David and Brian talking about Siobahn (or any other of the male characters discussing females / family matters) for proof. However the overtly female characters are modern women so I'd guess that Ruth will be forced to kick right over the traces, just to show that women can be as irresponsible as men. The scriptwriters will also force the kids to be deleriously happy living in a garret with Ruth and Sam and David will stoically accept the position, seeking consolation in his worthy stewardship of the Brookfield land and in his Parish Council work. He'll probably achieve closure by planting a tree in memory of his happy years with Ruth. Pity the writers didn't have the b**ls to pursue a similar line with Mike and Clarrie when they had the chance. AB |
