Subject: RE: Kendall at Mass Gen. 2.16.10 From: SINSULL Date: 21 Feb 10 - 01:30 PM I wish I could power nap. I fall so deeply asleep so fast that waking up becomes a problem and I am groggy for hours. I am better off relaxing and medidating for 20 minutes. Completely relaxed while still awake. Wonder if they will send Kendall home with some Ambian????? |
Subject: RE: Kendall at Mass Gen. 2.16.10 From: Bill D Date: 21 Feb 10 - 04:13 PM Ambien is a marvel! Even the cheap generic form is all I need to control things. (It works quickly, and I can usually take 1/4 of one to get to sleep, and another 1/4 if I wake up at 4AM.) |
Subject: RE: Kendall at Mass Gen. 2.16.10 From: KT Date: 21 Feb 10 - 04:19 PM Mary, I'm the same as you when it comes to naps....and Ambien? Oooh....that stuff'll make you see smiley faces in the upholstery! Day at a time Kendall & Jacqui - thanks for the updates - sounding better every day! |
Subject: RE: Kendall at Mass Gen. 2.16.10 From: katlaughing Date: 21 Feb 10 - 04:26 PM Must be the philosopher in you or somethin', Bill. Ambien had absolutely no effect on me, at all. Might as well have been a piece of candy.*bg* {{{{{{{{K&J}}}}}}}}} luvyakat |
Subject: RE: Kendall at Mass Gen. 2.16.10 From: SINSULL Date: 21 Feb 10 - 06:05 PM What cheap generic?????? No word from Jacqui and Kendall. Must have been a full day with the family. |
Subject: RE: Kendall at Mass Gen. 2.16.10 From: kendall Date: 21 Feb 10 - 06:07 PM Who can tell me how to import all of my gmail contacts from g mail into Yahoo?Gmail is a real pain these days. |
Subject: RE: Kendall at Mass Gen. 2.16.10 From: ranger1 Date: 21 Feb 10 - 07:34 PM Well, that post was certainly random in the extreme, Kendall! But to answer your question: not I! |
Subject: RE: Kendall at Mass Gen. 2.16.10 From: Jeri Date: 21 Feb 10 - 07:46 PM I don't know either, but I have to use the HTML version these days (too much crap for dial-up). |
Subject: RE: Kendall at Mass Gen. 2.16.10 From: gnu Date: 21 Feb 10 - 07:56 PM Kendll. I thought you had an assistant to sort such things out for you? JAC!? Now, that could be a reality show that should be on TV. Nevermind Ozzy and Sharron. The Morse's. Sayah, Jahqui, could yah get thaht thayah dohctah ta ramp up the drugs? And, tell tha gahlley ta to put moha onions in tha chowdah. A good chowdah needs a prohpah amount of onions. And tell them I know the difference when they put them dahmned cahnned Chinese clams in it! I want Maine bahhh clams damnit! |
Subject: RE: Kendall at Mass Gen. 2.16.10 From: Bill D Date: 21 Feb 10 - 08:10 PM "What cheap generic?" zolpidem tartrate is $10 on my HMO's list, while Ambien CR isn't even listed and costs enough that they can offer a $20 per prescription 'discount' on it. here's their propaganda. OF COURSE I'd like to have the CR and perhaps sleep thru the night, but I'll put up with the slight inconvenience, since I got my doctor to give me 30...which costs $10 and lasts me at least 60 days! You note KT says it does strange things, while katlaughing says she can't feel it. People are different...I'm just lucky that most drugs act just like they're supposed to on me. |
Subject: RE: Kendall at Mass Gen. 2.16.10 From: Bill D Date: 21 Feb 10 - 08:15 PM and Gmail may just be a problem because of whatever connection you have to use at the hospital? It is usually tricky to import email stuff back & forth because of all the proprietary formatting. What I do is have 4 or 5 ways to read and answer email, then only actually download it when I'm ready...to only ONE place. |
Subject: RE: Kendall at Mass Gen. 2.16.10 From: SINSULL Date: 21 Feb 10 - 08:54 PM Ah hell! I read generic and heard over the counter. My doctor doesn't like the maniacal sparkle in my eyes when I ask for Ambien. No help here, Kendall. Why not forward a list of contacts via email? It's a start. |
Subject: RE: Kendall at Mass Gen. 2.16.10 From: kendall Date: 21 Feb 10 - 09:19 PM Bill, it's not just here at the hospital. I've had trouble with it from day one. I think google just got too big too fast. |
Subject: RE: Kendall at Mass Gen. 2.16.10 From: GUEST,Dani Date: 21 Feb 10 - 09:55 PM Kendall, you've said that about gmail for quite awhile, but I can't figure out what's going on! I've had nothing but fun easiness using it, and I'm not easy to please in regard to computer issues. Need me to come up there and give personal lessons? I'll bring my laptop? My rates are pretty cheap : ) Dani |

Subject: RE: Kendall at Mass Gen. 2.16.10 From: jacqui.c Date: 22 Feb 10 - 10:27 AM Morning all! I walked in to the room this morning and KENDALL SPOKE TO ME!!!!!!! They took the breathing tube out this morning and he just has a gauze pad over the hole now. He has to hold his finger over the hole to talk, but has a deep, growly voice, which is easily understood. He's still writing stuff as I think it is a bit of an effort to talk, but he's getting there. He has to have another barium swallow test today to make sure that he isn't aspirating into the trachea and, if that goes OK he can start eating. Given that everything goes OK we are told that he may be able to come home toward the end of the week, but they need to check that he is managing everything OK first. Right now he's impatient to go for a walk - his blood pressure is up as a result of the steroids and he needs a little exercise regularly. I'll post more later. |

Subject: RE: Kendall at Mass Gen. 2.16.10 From: jacqui.c Date: 22 Feb 10 - 10:55 AM Becca - check your phone messages. Right now he's gone for the barium swallow and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there will be a good result from that. We phoned each of his daughters and I handed him the phone so that they could get the same joy that I did from the surprise of hearing him talk. We will have the speech therapist coming and and a therapist to check on his breathing. Dr Bryant has said that they will use a nebulizer to keep his airways moist so that will be happening today. Looks like it will be a busy day! He was very tired after visits from his family yesterday so, in between the medical stuff, we will be trying to rest up a bit. If you want to send cards I would suggest that you send them to him at home - we don't know how long he will be here now and the mail is being forwarded in the meantime. PM me if you need an address. Right now I'm going to sit back a take a few deep breaths until he comes back. This is all such a relief! |

Subject: RE: Kendall at Mass Gen. 2.16.10 From: jacqui.c Date: 22 Feb 10 - 01:42 PM I've just come back from lunch to find Kendall attacking his lunch tray with real gusto. He says that if anything ever tasted that good he can't remember when. Elaine, his daughter, is buying Maine shrimp for us to bring to the hospital tomorrow - he says he could eat them with the shells still on. He told me that it is the love and support he has had from so many people that has helped him to heal so fast, together with determination not to let this thing beat him. I am just amazed at the patience and grace that he has displayed this week in such difficult circumstances. He really is my hero. |
