Subject: Bush Band Music On C.D. Interested? From: brad3555@yahoo.com Date: 10 Dec 99 - 01:49 AM To everyone who contributes to this site, keep up the good work. It is fantastic.
Hi I'm Brad from Australia.
1. Wedderburn Oldtimers' (All four bands are based in Victoria, Australia). It is catchy lively music to listen to and also designed to dance to. It consists of many folk tunes and tunes that have originated from various countries. Mostly Australian tunes which I would say are fairly well known around the world. The C.D. is for sale at 25 (American) dollars including postage and handling. I am just curious to see how many of you mudcatters are interested in purchasing this double C.D. I am not in favour of buying or selling actually through the net. But please let me know if you are interested in purchasing. Feel free to ask for more details.
Regards,
Brad. |

Subject: RE: Bush Band Music On C.D. Interested? From: Bob Bolton Date: 11 Dec 99 - 10:00 PM G'day Brad,
Nice record - I reviewed it in Mulga Wire #135, October 1999 ... then reviewed your older CD The Spring Gully Hop in Mulga Wire #136, December 1999. I think that the Quadrille Mania review should be posted by now on our Bush Music Club site
Both the current double CD set and the older CD were available on there last list and I presume that they could do a price in Uncle Sam dollars and get those anywhere in the world in these inter-connected days. I don't think they ave sound samples yet, but Dave ought to work on a few. The Wongawilli Band have a few nice sounds to sell themselves!
I will also have a new double CD set of the basic Bush Dances out shortly, remastered from the studio tapes that produced our succesful 10-cassette teaching set. These are part of a package of written music set book and dance instruction book, with glossary, teaching advice &c and I will have the new CDs pressed mid January. The Bush Dance set covers the basic, popular bush dances and Quadrille Mania is popular with the more accomplished dancers.
Regards,
Bob Bolton |

Subject: RE: Bush Band Music On C.D. Interested? From: Bob Bolton Date: 11 Dec 99 - 11:45 PM G'day yet again, Kat: There are no sound bites, but it is nice dance music, good rhythmic stuff and strongly traditional. If Brad is still in there plugging it, after fighting to get his button accordion heard over Peter Ellis's accordion or Anglo concertina, he must be happy with it! Around these parts I have a reputation for pushing accordions and concertinas hard, but trying to match with Peter would see my bellows off smartly (and keeps Peter's repairers working). Seriously, this is a band that has done a heap of field work with the old dancers, callers and musicians of their region and combined it all with a great love for the traditions, dances and music. the style is very traditional, but the tradition was great. OTHER PROBLEM: I posted a few URLs in my previous post, but forgot that putting arrow brackets around them turns them into something else ... which vanishes! Anyway, when I mentioned the Bush Music Club Site above, it should have had this URL: http://folk.mountaintracks.com.au/bushmusic/ and the Bush Dancing - Wongawilli Style site, which is an alternative site from which to buy a range of Aussie material, should have read: http://wollongong.starway.net.au/~gsmurray. (I have to learn how to HTML Big Blue Clicky Things!!!) Regards, Bob Bolton |
