Subject: Dry Bones From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 23 May 21 - 11:02 AM Dry Bones When I was a kid, everyone knew and sang this song. Today is Pentecost, celebrating the story of Ezekial and the Holy Spirit breathing life into a valley of disconnected bones. I don't think I've heard or sung this song in forty or fifty years. Here are the Delta Rhythm Boys singing the song the way it should be sung, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYeQUXXYvK0 |
Subject: RE: Dry Bones From: Manitas_at_home Date: 23 May 21 - 11:17 AM I've heard a few versions lately but, for me this is the classic version with that lovely pitch raising passage as hey go up the body. |
Subject: RE: Dry Bones From: Jeri Date: 23 May 21 - 11:25 AM It sounded like this version, but I remember a cartoon with skeletons. |

Subject: RE: Dry Bones From: Jerry Rasmussen Date: 23 May 21 - 03:58 PM Hey. Edward A, The video wouldn't load for me. I saw a second video, but I thought this was looser and they were having more fun with it. Thanks for posting the link, anyway. So who knows who Edward A Guest was? |
Subject: RE: Dry Bones From: leeneia Date: 24 May 21 - 12:53 AM Did you go to church this morning, Jerry? I did, and I was the reader. The Old Testament lesson was the story of Ezekiel and the valley of dry bones. Since I assume the valley was the site of an ancient battle or massacre, I have always found this a forbidding tale. However, time passed, and by evening I was in the mood to enjoy the song you linked. Thanks very much. |
