Subject: Obit: Alex Nearney (alex s) From: Paul Reade Date: 18 Nov 24 - 11:12 AM Alex Nearney ("alex s" on Mudcat) died recently. He ran Burnley Folk Club for a number of years, plus his ceilidh band "Millstone". More recently he organised a couple of monthly sessions, one purely instrumental one mixed, always well attended. |

Subject: RE: Obit: Alex Nearney (alex s) From: Nick Dow Date: 19 Nov 24 - 12:04 PM Alex deserves more than one reply. He was a pleasant, and intelligent man and a good organiser and singer. He booked a lot of good people at Burnley Folk Club. Were you one of them? Let's raise a glass to him, and remember him here on Mudcat. Nick and Mally |
Subject: RE: 2024 Obit: Alex Nearney (alex s) From: GUEST,Peter Snape Date: 20 Nov 24 - 10:02 AM Yes, let's raise a glass to Alex. He was indeed a pleasant and intelligent man, a good organiser, singer and also a good guitarist. Barbara and I have happy memories of Burnley Folk Club which Alex organised with some enthusiasm and there was many an occasion he organised, both in Burnley and beyond, in which we enjoyed his company along with his cherished 'Guild guitar. |
