I just got to listen to a new disc from John Miller. Awesome solo guitar arrangements and warm vocals
on a program of jazz standards. here's the song list...

                                     >> Hey There
                                     >> Wonder Why
                                     >> Old Folks
                                     >> Namely You
                                     >> Baltimore Oriole
                                     >> Bye Bye Blackbird
                                     >> The Very Thought Of You
                                     >> When I See You
                                     >> I Could Write A Book
                                     >> The Nearness Of You
                                     >> I Thought About You
                                     >> Moon River

Contact John by e-mail to get a copy: johnmalcolmmiller@mac.com He'll give you details about ordering thru PayPal or by mail.

If you're not familiar with John's playing, he's a wonderful fingerstyle guitarist, singer, and prolific teacher with a bunch of videos and DVDs on Stefan Grossman's imprint. His superb recordings from the 70s have been reissued as Japanese imports and he has several other more current discs with mandolinist John Reischman, fiddler Ruthie Dornfeld and others.

Yes, this does look suspiciously like spam, and I don't know who Guest OJ is...BUT I do know who John Miller is, and he is definitely worth hearing.

Aloha,
Mark

Interesting....

spam indeed (it's showing up on other sites) but here's the interesting thing...

OJ is Orville Johnson http://www.mongrelfolk.com/orville.html a player who has been feature in Acoustic Guitar magazine's (now discontinued) CD/instructional book series. I'd actually rather hear Orville play than Miller. OJ's cut from the aforementioned CD absolutely "stole the show" --by far the best thing on it.

You're right, it's me. I didn't really think of what I was posting as spam tho I guess, technically, it is. I was just telling everybody on all the music sites I visit about a great CD by my friend John that you can only get thru him and I think he's a very underknown (is that a word?) player that is much deserving of wider recognition and I don't think he would put a post up like this for himself so I took it upon myself to do so.
Thanx for enjoying my piece on the Acoustic Guitar mag disc, John. Coincidentally, the one I think you're referring to (Mardi March, originally released on my own Slide & Joy CD) was, tho perfomed by me, written by John Miller...OrvilleJ

Orville, I only heard you play a couple of times when I lived in Seattle, but it was a joy. And no, John is not the type to blow his own horn...even though he would probably do it quite well. I doubt he'll remember me from PSGW in 1989, but please say hello anyway if you get the chance.

Aloha,
Mark
