Subject: BS: I agree with me. From: Jack the Sailor Date: 05 Aug 04 - 06:41 PM Great Article. PJ O'Roarke is a hoot. There should be a Mudcat paragraph. Anyone care to write one? |

Subject: RE: BS: I agree with me. From: CarolC Date: 05 Aug 04 - 07:15 PM Sounds like maybe he's creeping into his second liberalhood in his old age. Bound to happen sooner or later. |

Subject: RE: BS: I agree with me. From: Bobert Date: 05 Aug 04 - 08:34 PM Yeah, Carol, he didn't seem all that conservarive, especially with his support for gay marriage. Heck, if you've gotten that far down Leftie's Lane, you're sure to have checked off on a few lesser liberal issues... But I am not convinced that I want to spend any time listeing to Rush Limbaugh just so I can argue wid him. After all, that's what I have DougR for... Bobert |

Subject: RE: BS: I agree with me. From: Jeri Date: 05 Aug 04 - 08:55 PM The problem is that O'Rourke doesn't fit the 'one-size-fits-all' conservative label. I think he figures stuff out on his own. There ARE those who just repeat what they've been taught to say and believe what they've been told to believe. One of the biggest Clinton-bashers I've ever heard is David Brudnoy, who has a talk show on WBZ radio out of Boston. He's conservative, and he's gay. "Conservative" means different things to different people. Supporting gay marriage could be seen as conservative - I can understand that. Aren't married people usually viewed as living a more conservative lifestyle than single people? People ain't stereotypes, and I try to avoid assuming other things about folks just because I know ONE thing. Mostly, because I end up looking stupid. |

Subject: RE: BS: I agree with me. From: GUEST,Clint Keller Date: 05 Aug 04 - 10:18 PM I never thought PJ was a real conservative, or a real liberal in his youth. He's smart AND intelligent, and he writes to annoy and attract attention, and now he's been outdone by the other boys. Except on the intelligent part. I've never seen any sign of real convictions. But he writes good, and this is a good editorial. clint |
