Subject: RE: BS: Brexit and other UK politics thread 4 From: Backwoodsman Date: 23 Apr 26 - 04:12 AM A couple of days ago my response would have been, “Probably’, Ray. But now I’m not so sure. A more important question for me would be, “Who will replace him if he goes?”. I don’t see any obvious candidates, and I’m concerned it would be a case of ‘out of the frying pan into the fire’ if he goes. I suspect that Badenough has already worked this out, and it’s the reason she won’t give up bleating about resignation. |

Subject: RE: BS: Brexit and other UK politics thread 4 From: Backwoodsman Date: 23 Apr 26 - 08:34 AM Quite so, Dave. I think there’s quite a lot of things he’s doing right - keeping us out of Drumpf’s and Netan-yahoo’s illegal war with Iran being not the least of them. If Badenough and Farridge had had their way, we would have been up to our necks in blood and bullets, and spaffing billions on it by now. There’s an old proverb, “Better the devil you know…” that probably applies here… |

Subject: RE: BS: Brexit and other UK politics thread 4 From: r.padgett Date: 24 Apr 26 - 02:11 AM Assisted Dying Bill to run out of time ~ Commons voted on 1200 amendments from House of Lords Sticking point probably on issue of opinion and who is deemed an appropriate person to decide on life or death by other than nature Ray |

Subject: RE: BS: Brexit and other UK politics thread 4 From: r.padgett Date: 25 Apr 26 - 03:03 PM I do not think Sir Keir being asked to step down is a good thing May Local Authority Elections outcome will be critical and could be some in fighting as to who replaces him. if needed ~ no best fit falls to mind Steady ness is needed and Falkland Islands is nothing to do with Big T so he take his 'ook for a start Better the devil you know ~ Ray |

Subject: RE: BS: Brexit and other UK politics thread 4 From: Dave the Gnome Date: 26 Apr 26 - 03:26 AM I suggest that you compare the mainstream newspapers lack of reporting on the Boris lies to the media frenzy over Mandelson to answer that question, Rain Dog. |

The current arracks in London and other parts of the World imv are as a direct consequence of attacks from Netanyahu We are blaming police ~ why is that? Politicians ~ up against Big T who was goaded initially by Netanyahu Similarly cross channel efforts to stop? Subject: RE: BS: Brexit and other UK politics thread 4 From: MaJoC the Filk Date: 30 Apr 26 - 12:22 PM Keir Starmer: an honest man* in an era of bullies and bullshitters. Today's New World front cover portrays him as Saint Sebastian in mid-martyrdom, suffering the slings and arrows of outrageous tabloids. * For sufficiently political values of "honest". |

Subject: RE: BS: Brexit and other UK politics thread 4 From: r.padgett Date: 01 May 26 - 02:48 AM C111 supposedly said to Big T "you would have been speaking French if it wasn't for us!" Ray well that bits over now and The King and Queen are in Bermuda for 3 days Ray |

Subject: RE: BS: Brexit and other UK politics thread 4 From: Nigel Parsons Date: 01 May 26 - 10:47 AM Majoc: Keir Starmer: an honest man I think I'll leave it to (possibly) our greatest wordsmith: The noble Brutus Hath told you Caesar was ambitious: If it were so, it was a grievous fault, And grievously hath Caesar answer’d it. Here, under leave of Brutus and the rest– For Brutus is an honourable man; So are they all, all honourable men– Come I to speak in Caesar’s funeral. He was my friend, faithful and just to me: But Brutus says he was ambitious; And Brutus is an honourable man. He hath brought many captives home to Rome Whose ransoms did the general coffers fill: Did this in Caesar seem ambitious? When that the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept: Ambition should be made of sterner stuff: Yet Brutus says he was ambitious; And Brutus is an honourable man. Although Marc Antony does later speak better of Brutus. |

Subject: RE: BS: Brexit and other UK politics thread 4 From: MaJoC the Filk Date: 01 May 26 - 03:43 PM I was thinking more along the lines of the definition of a diplomat as "an honest man sent abroad to lie for his country", rather than "a man who can tell you to go to Hell in such a way that you look forward to the trip". Attributions, anyone .... ? |

Subject: RE: BS: Brexit and other UK politics thread 4 From: r.padgett Date: 03 May 26 - 01:49 AM Actions by Netanyahu's Israel ~ not totally backed by the good people of Israel have caused the deaths of many in Palestine, quite unnecessarily Sir Kier the good people of UK are appalled by these actions, and backed by a foolish Big T # it is no wonder Marches are growing I am currently "jumping up and down" and swearing at tv" and more whenever the worst president ever in a democracy who has not yet got a feel for his rights and responsibilities ~ "the job" is failed Ray |
