Subject: BS: Glasgow accommodations? From: Willie-O Date: 06 Jun 04 - 02:32 PM A young family friend is looking for a place to live in Glasgow for a few months. She has been accepted into the Glasgow School of Art for the fall term and needs some kind of a flat or a room with a family... Meghan Kotze, age twentyish, is a lilkeable young woman who is majoring in photography and is very politically involved (chairs the Student Union at the Ontario College of Art and Design). She is a Canadian and American citizen whose family lives down the road from me. Any Glasgow-knowledgeable Catters have leads or a spare room convenient to the Glasgow School of Art? PM me. Bill |

Subject: RE: BS: Glasgow accommodations? From: Willie-O Date: 07 Jun 04 - 07:47 AM Thanks Kenny. Still hoping for personal contact from Glaswegians--the Mudcat specialty. Anything that can be arranged through the school, I'm sure she can access without my help. Bill |

Subject: RE: BS: Glasgow accommodations? From: Scabby Douglas Date: 07 Jun 04 - 11:20 AM I'm in Glasgow, (well - as good as) but can't think of anyone who has a spare room, or lets out flats. And it's ben a long while since I had personal knowledge of that stuff. Might be worth posting on www.Scotland.com/forums, as there are a couple of forums there, specifically on moving/travel to Scotland. Incidentally, she should feel pretty pleased with herself for getting into GSA, they do NOT just take anyone, as my disappointed 18-year-old could tell you. |

Subject: RE: BS: Glasgow accommodations? From: Willie-O Date: 08 Jun 04 - 11:43 AM Yup, she's pleased. It's funny about kids you've known since they were very small. I distinctly remember her mom telling me about Meghan's first day catching the school bus--(she clamped herself to the door frame of the house and refused, at top volume, to go any further.) Then you blink and here's this highly articulate, self-possessed and talented young adult... where the hell have I been? W-O |

Subject: RE: BS: Glasgow accommodations? From: Hillheader Date: 09 Jun 04 - 06:58 AM When is she coming over? Is it for a Summer School (accommodation may be more readily available) or during term time (scarcer then). Sorry I cannot help with accommodation but Here is a link which may do so. Best areas will be around the West End (G12 Post Code)by Glasgow University or St Georges Cross (G20). Lots of student accommodation and West end in particular a great social live. PM me with an E-mail address if you wish and I can send maps etc if need be. Goo Luck |

Subject: RE: BS: Glasgow accommodations? From: Liz the Squeak Date: 09 Jun 04 - 02:42 PM Tell her to go and visit the Necropolis - there are a pair of Britain's rarest deer there - Roe deer. They've made it their grazing territory and can be seen nibbling the lawns and shrubs quite happily. Congrats on her getting into the GSA. LTS |
