Well, whatever the geological situation, this particular Fossil will be in Wellington next Wednesday morning - on an 11-week working visit preparatory to making the move there for good. This time I'll be alone - my wife will be staying in Brussels until January, when we'll close up our lives here and make the giant leap to the Other End of the World. I'm a bit nervous about all this, I have to say, so I hope that I can get some info about the music scene there.

Is/are there any local folkies/folk clubs/live acoustic music there? I'll be based in the Kapiti Coast area, specifically Paekakariki and Plimmerton, but can easily get into Wellington centre from there on the train.

I'm a guitar player, singer and folk club organiser. Quite like drinking beer, too. Oh, and by the way, I jog with the Hash House Harriers and sail boats when I'm not working or making music...would any NZ local 'catters who can help out with info or who'd like to make contact please PM me or respond to this thread. Thanks in advance....Fossil

Best of luck! I've never been to NZ, but from the pictures I've seen of it, it is a beautiful place.

Do beware of Liz the Squeak's sister. (See thread "Desperate plea - save me from my sister.")

I'd move to Australia instead.

New Zealand has lots of Commies.

Yep, no koalas or kangaroos. Just funky cold weather and lots of Commies.

Thought my fame was spreading when I read the header, but it was a missing apostrophe.
Enjoy piecockareekie.

There's not a lot left in Paekakariki - the floods washed the mud from the hill over the road and through the town, the kakariki birds (little green parrots) have been gone for many years and now the pub is being closed!
Don't go there!
Robyn
