Well, "Duckboots" aka Heather, will be at a meeting of the "Adoption Council of Canada", for most of the evening, so I'll be on my own. Actually since finding her birth mother (and a bunch of new relations) she's become aware of a lot of the problems and stigma(s) that adopted kids deal with on a life-long basis. I've suggested that we do a radio show on the subject, with appropriate songs and a couple of interviews, and have left the planning up to her. My simple-minded philosophy on ALL situations of exclusion, is that when one person gets up the nerve to tell their story publicly, others in the same boat feel less alone. And that has to be good.
Since I don't have a guest tonight, I'll play some CDs, vinyl, and maybe bring in a banjo or guitar (no tipples) and sing a few songs.

Right now listening to the "Catspaw's Rag"! Glad I finally got to hear that song! I've heard so much about it! Right now Rick is talking about the "Rag" and all the instrumentation included in it. I think he ought to work in some ocarina (aka Possum's ass) to round out the song! What do you think Rick?

Looks like the link is broken. I get a "Requested file not found. The link you followed may be outdated or inaccurate." error. I tried to call the station but the line is busy. There's probably nothing they can do about it tonight in any case.

Sorry folks. Don't know what the station does to fix this. But anyone sending them a fax or e-mail has my thanks. At least it lets them know that someone WANTS to listen to a folk show! Believe me, this kind of music is a TINY piece of the musical pie!

I just emailed them and whined aboout the remote regions of Wyoming and how much it means to be able to connect to the outside world through such incredible programs as the Acoustic Workshop! Hopefully, they'll take pity on me and boot it up!

I'm disappointed. Tried the connection about an hour before the show, didn't get in, & assumed it was the same as last week. I did finally get the cd at Clearwater, however, & can now listen to Rick's great music whenever I like. What a bargain--a nice man who sings & plays well, too!!!

Rick! I was so disappointed. When I tuned in to your show I was told that I had to download RealPlayer software! By the time I found it and downloaded it, it was too late. It came zipped and I'm not sure if I can unzip it, or where I should put it so CIUT software can access it. I need to do more investigation. I should have it up by next week. I hope!!

I think I heard through the static that Heather is not there to do the engineer work tonight. The sound really is horrible tonight, but maybe it's a good opportunity for us to give Rick a hard time for trying to go it alone without Heather, although I'm sure he'd rather have her there, too.
