Subject: BS: A thread about nothing From: Lizzie Cornish 1 Date: 23 Jul 09 - 06:23 PM This is for all the Bland, Beige and Boring things in the world, for which there is nothing to say. It's not here for discussion, nor opinions, nor arguments, and we'll have no swearing or cursing, because that would bring emotion into it and this thread is about no emotion, no passion, no riled up feelings... It's about apathy. No thoughts. Most definitely no egocentrics. That way, it won't be closed down like other threads have been. It's going to be a nice 'safe' little thread, I can feel it in my bones. The Most Boring Video There ya go...soooooo much better that discussing fascism, racism or FAF. Can't **think** why we haven't done it before. |

Subject: RE: BS: A thread about nothing From: open mike Date: 24 Jul 09 - 04:24 AM Too Much of Nothing is a song written by Bob Dylan in 1967, first released by him on the album The Basement Tapes (1975). . it is not in the D.T. (yet.....Lyric add.....) \ Now, too much of nothing Can make a man feel ill at ease. One man's temper might rise While another man's temper might freeze. In the day of confession We cannot mock a soul. Oh, when there's too much of nothing, No one has control. Say hello to Valerie Say hello to Vivian Send them all my salary On the waters of oblivion Too much of nothing Can make a man abuse a king. He can walk the streets and boast like most But he wouldn't know a thing. Now, it's all been done before, It's all been written in the book, But when there's too much of nothing, Nobody should look. Say hello to Valerie Say hello to Vivian Send them all my salary On the waters of oblivion Too much of nothing Can turn a man into a liar, It can cause one man to sleep on nails And another man to eat fire. Ev'rybody's doin' somethin', I heard it in a dream, But when there's too much of nothing, It just makes a fella mean. Say hello to Valerie Say hello to Vivian Send them all my salary On the waters of oblivion there is a you tube video of Peter Paul and Mary singing it.... now, that would be something, wouldn't it? (so i won't post it here) |

Subject: RE: BS: A thread about nothing From: Peace Date: 26 Jul 09 - 08:55 AM If nothing existed, we'd only recognize it due to it's proximity to something. It's part of everything but not just anything. I'll get back after taking a toke and tell y'all if I agree with that. OK, I'm back. Like, the hole is there because it's surrounded by dough. If not for that, where would the sprinkled sugar be? I ask you. Tim Horton had the right idea. Like, when ya do something with eelan/elann/ellan great style and verve--hey, where's Bobert? |
Subject: RE: BS: A thread about nothing From: Peace Date: 26 Jul 09 - 09:41 AM Oh, BOBert. It's pissin' rain in Montreal. I am looking at three pigeons huddled on a window ledge. They look like vultures. Strange birds. Have to wonder why they evolved. Or IF they evolved. Heck, they might even be the same birds that hovered over my prostrate body when I was stranded in the Mohavee/Moheve/Mohjave Sahara Desert. It was just after the uh--so wtf are they doing in Montreal? The nearest Tim Horton's is at least a three days walk from here--OK, maybe a half hour, but in this driving sandstorm it would SEEM like days--just to get nothing surrounded by dough. |

Subject: RE: BS: A thread about nothing From: Little Hawk Date: 26 Jul 09 - 01:58 PM My God, Peace...you are THREE DAYS' WALK from the nearest Tim Hortons???????????????? GEE-ZUS. I'd be panicking and hyperventilating, man. Imagine Shane in such a position. |
Subject: RE: BS: A thread about nothing From: Peace Date: 26 Jul 09 - 02:14 PM Yeah. I know. Shane'd be shaking, delirious, and all messed up. Actually, I can see Tim's from here. Just that in my present condition it would take me three days to walk there. |
Subject: RE: BS: A thread about nothing From: VirginiaTam Date: 26 Jul 09 - 02:20 PM at the risk of exacerbating the shock horror... what is Tim Horton's? |
Subject: RE: BS: A thread about nothing From: Little Hawk Date: 26 Jul 09 - 02:44 PM It's Canada's most common and ubiquitous donut shop chain. They're everywhere. You can't throw a stone in this town without hitting one. I think they are putting small amounts of heroin in the coffee. Something like that. They basically sell caffiene and sugar with small amounts of other stuff added for flavour. |
Subject: RE: BS: Much overdue about nothing From: Severn Date: 26 Jul 09 - 02:57 PM Did Horton just hear a "Who?"..... (Cue in Tex Ritter) "Do-nut fore-sake me, O mah darlin'..... " A donut IS something. It's merely usually in the SHAPE of a nothing. However, back when I could eat them, I preferred the filled ones.... I always figured that at work, when your bosses bought you donuts, they always tended yo by the ones with powdered sugar, sprinkles or coconut so they could follow your trail and ferret out your secret hiding places..... Or as the old graffitti/school yearbook signing passage went: "As you wander off through life, Whatever may be your goal, Keep your eye upon the doughnut, And not upon the hole." If not, I guess you just: Keep your hand upon the throttle and your eye upon the rail or: Keep your hand upon the dollar and your eye upon the scale. or even: Take your hand off the penny, leave it on the rail, then put your ear to the rail to hear if the train's coming, see that the (sub)urban legend that it would derail the train was false and pocket the squashed-flat penny as a keepsake. Whatever works....... |

Subject: RE: BS: A thread about nothing From: Bill D Date: 26 Jul 09 - 04:43 PM In certain parts of the US, "Dunkin' Doughnuts" is the approximate substitute for Tim Hortons. They are reputed to have decent coffee. I wouldn't know. There's one 5 minutes from me, but I haven't been inside it in 30 years.) |

Subject: RE: BS: A thread about nothing From: Peace Date: 26 Jul 09 - 04:47 PM Tim Horton's will be opening a dozen shops in New York City. (That was posted by a Mudcatter. Maybe on this thread. (Sorry, I do not recall who.) Today, New York. Tomorrow, Biggar, Saskatchewan. The sign on the edge of their town reads, "New York is big. This is Biggar." |
