Funny, (not Ha! Ha!) I took that article as being facetious.

I suspect neither Bush nor Cheney will have much to do with actually writing the book, just like Obama didn't have much to do with writing his books.

The only "evidence" I can find on the internet that Obama's books were written by ghost writers are allegations on conservative web-sites and white-supremacist blogs. The initial allegations were made by—TA-DAH!!—Rush Limbaugh. Why am I not surprised?

A number of reviewers have remarked that, although many political figures use uncredited ghost writers, they doubt very seriously that this is the case with Obama's books in that, as one of them stated, "He writes in his own voice. He writes just like he speaks." Also, Christopher Buckley, the son of the late William F. Buckley of The National Review and the television discussion program "Firing Line," a genuinely intellectual conservative (can't hardly find that kind anymore)and a writer himself, states the same thing: that Obama is intelligent, articulate, and eloquent, and he writes just like he speaks. This is not an easy feat for even the most accomplished ghost writer.

And a tribute to Obama's eloquence is the fact that he rarely if ever uses a teleprompter, even when it's there. Watch his speeches. It's obvious that he's not simply reading.

George W. Bush, on the other hand—whenever he departed from a prepared speech ot tried to talk "off-the-cuff," he got his tongue so tangled around his eye-teeth, he couldn't see what he was saying. His gaffs and malapropisms are the thing of legend and great fodder for stand-up comics. This is one of the reasons he hated press conferences and avoided them like the plague.

"An authoritarian voice"

Right.

Don't misunderestimate the level of self-serving bull THIS is gonna be.

But it's more of a tradgedy than a comedy- and the REAL trasgedy is that a substantial portion off the U.S. population will actually believe the crap he ( or rather his ghost writer ) writes."

GregF wrote the above.

Now watch him try to say he was making fun of Pres. Bush by using the word "misunderestimate".

You guys give it a rest.

You have already make up your minds on what you think is going to be in it so you probably won't ever read it anyway.

Objectivity is something that is rarely found here.

I have it on pretty good authority that the title of the new book when it is published is, "Why I Love The Mudcat Cafe."

Not to fear, Hubby. I'll probably read it. Just for the amusement and amazement.

As someone once said about a poodle in a tutu dancing around on its hind legs, "The amazing thing is not that the poodle dances well, but that it dances at all!"

Coulter and Greenberg book sales are down 66% so they probably could use the ghostwriting work.

Ebbie - Just like the AIG bonuses, who wrote the books is more important to the man on the ground than the elites in Washington ever dreamed. And I'm sure you've noticed that when a writer writes, the prose style is just like a signature or a fingerprint. That being the case, there are investigative elements out there who are building the case. The attached document represents one of those efforts.

There are other efforts, and these people are not going away.

". . . anyone know who wrote "The Conscience of a Conservative?", by Barry Goldwater?"

It probably was written by Goldwater, Doug. Whether one agreed with him or not, Goldwater did have a brain and occasionally he was even known to use it. Although not up to the standard of William F. Buckley, however.

These days, it seems to be a lost art among Conservatives. . . .

Yesteryear - Buckley.    Currently - Limbaugh.   'Nuff said.

Nope, Don, Barry didn't write it. He approved it, of course, and was close to the author as he wrote it but it was actually written by Brent Bozell, Bill Buckley, brother-in-law.

Hmmm. I suspect DougR knows a little more about Goldwater than he is comfortable with.

The Man Who Knew Too Little

"Although the biographers differ politically, they are equally admiring of Goldwater. Goldwater, Edwards writes, "laid the foundation for a political revolution and led a generation of conservatives to understand that theirs was a winning as well as a just cause." Edwards describes him as an "Old Testament Jeremiah"; Goldberg calls him a "prophetic figure." Edwards quotes with approval the opinion of conservatives that Goldwater would have made a better president than Lyndon Johnson. Goldwater, Goldberg argues, "stands well in comparison with politicians like Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, and even Ronald Reagan."

"The reader of these books will find something to buttress these opinions but will also discover evidence for a contrary view of Goldwater. Running through both books are disturbing revelations about his intellectual abilities and about his independence of mind. These books unwittingly portray him as a good-hearted but stupid and sometimes weak man whose success depended upon his following carefully a script that other people wrote.

Both books depict Goldwater as an abysmal student. After ninth grade, he was advised to leave Phoenix's public high school. Out of desperation, his parents sent him to Staunton Military Academy in Virginia, where he had to repeat the ninth grade and still received Cs and Ds. After graduating from Staunton, Goldwater went to the University of Arizona, but he dropped out after his freshman year because he was having too much difficulty keeping up with the work. Still, other politicians have had little interest or success in school and have led an intellectual life of their own. But Goldwater's sister Carolyn told Edwards that she could not recall his ever reading a book."

There was a guy on C-SPAN over the weekend who was making the case that those candidates who earned the worst grades in school made the best presidents.

Not so, Ebbie. I am a great admirer of Barry Goldwater. We were not close friends, but I knew him casually.

I learned that Brent Bozell wrote the book when I read what I believe was Bill Buckley's last book, the title of which I believe was "It Was a Helluva Ride."

It's probably worse to claim to have written a book, and then have the public find out someone else wrote it, than to never have claimed to write it in the first place.
