Subject: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: Jack the Sailor Date: 03 Sep 02 - 01:36 AM WE'LL RANT AND WE'LL ROAR My name it is Robert, they call me the Sailor; I sail on the Mudcat and have lots of fun. Well I never thought that I'd find me a lady But now I'm convinced that she is the one. chorus:Now my little lady she eats only veggies. With organic milk and a hen's egg or two. But she's a fine little sea cook when she stands in the galley She can make a fine feast out of greens and tofu. chorus: Well my voyage has been good, So I'm ready to do it; A couple of thou for the rings and the rest A couple o' dollars for clean shirt and collars, And everything else on Amer'can Express chorus: Now my little maid is in love with my country And my little maiden is in love with me And when we've been married for three years she will be A compatriot and so proud I'll be chorus: Farewell and adieu to ye fair ones of Mudcat, Farewell and adieu to ye girls in the net; I'm bound to my lady, and never to wander, If she will just take now my hand for to wed. chorus: Come on all you laddies and lassies of Mudcat Come dancers and singers where ever you be We're sure to invite you to dance at our wedding The joy of this moment we will share with thee chorus: My lassie and I well we met on the Mudcat When my lady met me she made me at home We had a fine party in that hoser tavern A party we still have when we're on our own chorus: Was that a cod fish I had in my pocket Well I'll never tell but I will tell you this She's the loveliest woman I ever laid eyes on And my cod gets excited whenever we kiss chorus: Carol...... Oh you're my best friend, you're my soul and my lover my night and morning, beginning and end You are the woman I worship and cherish I want to get married so you just say when.
Will you marry me |

From the first time I played the "El Tico"....from the first time I stayed at the "Welcome Hotel", I knew there was SOMETHIN' about Newfoundland and it's people! When my buddies from the Sons Of Erin, Little John Cameron and Ralph O'Brien moved to the Rock, I had my suspicions confirmed.....it's a hell of a good place and the people are number one! Congrats you guys! Rick (and Heather, who's never been to "Joey's Isle") |

Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: harpgirl Date: 03 Sep 02 - 06:51 PM PS .I like the sound of this guy, Carol C. He asks you to marry him to get you to come along to Newfoundland. I seem to attract the ones who want me to move across country to their town before they will make any promises... Why don't more men understand that a woman needs a firm offer just like anyone else who is going to take a big risk like moving? |
Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: Amos Date: 03 Sep 02 - 06:51 PM Yeehaaa!! Way to go, CarolC!! You guys are too much!! I Love it!! Keep it happening -- it'll be there for you both as long as you do that. Very best regards, Rev A. |

|
Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: Jack the Sailor Date: 03 Sep 02 - 09:23 PM smallpiper, Willie-O... There's talking about "splicing" and then there is demonstrating one's feelings in a romantic and public way. This way completely compliments the manner in which we came together! We first communicated on Carol's "Hoser Tavern" thread. I certainly knew that she wants to get married. But she still could have said "no" here in the MudCat. |
Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: Jack the Sailor Date: 03 Sep 02 - 09:25 PM Thanks for your kind words everyone! We really appreciate your warm wishes. |
Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: Willie-O Date: 03 Sep 02 - 09:40 PM Well, good things come outta Hoser Taverns, sometimes. Now repeat after me: "I'm a man But I can change If I hafta I guess..."
I gotta say, though, if the lass wants to become a Canadian, makin her a Newfoundlander is kind of an end run... No, Please, Put down the bottle of Screech. (Prefereably blunt end down.) Hope Carol has a tolerance for inclement weather. I'm speakin from experience, my Jersey-bred partner has been here for 18 years and is still nostalgic for South Jersey winters, which don't hardly even happen. |
Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: The Pooka Date: 03 Sep 02 - 10:32 PM Woooooooooooooo hoo!!! I've seen some great things on the Mudcat, but this tops 'em all by God. Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: GUEST,vinland Date: 03 Sep 02 - 11:26 PM No problem to find MudCatters on the Rock to play at your wedding. I just came from our music camp in Gros Morne (Western Nfld) - lots of new young talent there. PM me the date of the big day and I'll take it from there. With all the songwriting talent at the MudCat, we should have no problem getting some great songs! I promise CarolC we'll even have a piano accordion player for the processional. Congrats, Vinland |
Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: Jack the Sailor Date: 04 Sep 02 - 12:04 AM Thank you Vinland! We wanted to marry on The Rock. But circumstances won't allow that. We'll be getting hitched sometime this year, Probably in the Washington DC area. Carol is partial to the weekend of Canadian Thanksgiving for the date. When we pick a time and place we'll be sure to let you all know. We intend to go to Newfoundland next summer. Hopefully we'll see the Newfie catters then. Sorry for the misunderstanding. This may sound odd but Carol is my little piece of Canada, here in the USA. We listen to Newfoundland music, watch Canadian programming and love to talk about the Great White North. She is about the most Canadian person I've ever known. That's one of the many reasons I love her and have no doubts about our future. Carol is my home. We share a great interest in my homeland and I am so looking forward to seeing it again, through her eyes.
Cheers everyone Rob (jts) Dale |

Thank you everyone, for your kind and loving words, and your good thoughts and wishes. I'm so thankful that the beginning of my life with Rob is being blessed by all of you lovely people in such a beautiful way. Rob is a dear, sweet, handsome man, and the two of us make a good team. Bless you, bless you, bless you both!! ::wipes away some tears, but they just keep on coming:: How wonderful for you to have met and loved here and then to have found it was the same (even better!) in Real Life. I met my Beloved on the internet in a group like this. I've been living with him for two years now and every day is a joy, even in the face of some pretty huge obstacles. My wish for you both is the same kind of deep ongoing joy in each other. He'll be a Canadian, to, one of these years! CarolC, I just missed you when you came to Orillia, and I was sorry for that. Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: Celtic Soul Date: 05 Sep 02 - 11:23 PM So, I get this call at nearly 11 at night. It's my sister, CarolC. She wants to talk to me before I read a certain thread at the 'Cat. Man...the things that happen when you go away for 2 weeks. ;) I am related to this woman, and I had no idea she was even involved with anyone. :::snort!!::: So, I went looking for a pic of Jack the Sailor, and I replied to his PM, warning me ahead of time so I would not be blown over ;) (sprry, m'lad...too late!) But there are no pics of Jack the Sailor. I'd really like to see what my new bro-in-law looks like before I meet him in person. I think it would be nice to carry on the tradition Carol started, and talk to him and see him for the first time on the web. I am completely tickled here. All I can say is, it's about time she had some happiness. I am all for that. So, keep her happy, Jack...or you'll have a little red headed spitfire to answer to. >;D |
Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: Jack the Sailor Date: 05 Sep 02 - 11:48 PM Far be it from me to pi$$ off future relatives!!!

Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: Celtic Soul Date: 05 Sep 02 - 11:56 PM Thank ye, JtS! Now, Mr., I have but one more question for you! Do you call yourself "Jack the Sailor" because you sing shanties and nautical music??? If so, yer OK in my book! ;D |
Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: CarolC Date: 05 Sep 02 - 11:57 PM Cool! Of course you and Jande are invited, hesperis!
(And all other 'catters, if they want to come!) Ain't he a hunk, CS? |
Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: hesperis Date: 06 Sep 02 - 12:06 AM YAY!!!!!!! When exactly?????!! He's cool. He'd have to be for our Carol, anyway. |
Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: Jack the Sailor Date: 06 Sep 02 - 12:14 AM Lynn!!!!!! Me darlin!!!!! I do sing such songs! But that is not the reason for that name! Carol, from the first time we Met on the 'Cat, is the reason for that name. Go to Mudcat Hoser Tavern! (the thread) Carol starts talking about her love for Canada, which impresses the he11 out of me! I decide to pay her back by introducing her to Newfoundland! She likes that so much that I choose a Mudcat name which embodies the seagoing, fun-loving spirit of Newfoundland. The character from this song! JACK WAS EVERY INCH A SAILOR If you read the thread carefully you will see us flirting and me sticking up for her when someone tries to curtail her accordion playing! I still would do that! I love her accordion playing now that I've heard her in real life! |
Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: Jack the Sailor Date: 06 Sep 02 - 12:17 AM We don't know exactly when and where yet. We're trying to arrange something where 'catters and my acoustic guitar pals can come and jam. We'll be letting y'all know pretty soon. |

I've tried to follow it for the last few days, but it just can't take all the joy, I guess!) |
Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: hesperis Date: 06 Sep 02 - 12:25 PM I think we need a part 2... If I wasn't supposed to be somewhere else right NOW, I'd make one. *g* |

Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: CarolC Date: 07 Sep 02 - 01:57 PM Hey Susan. Thanks! We're going to be busy moving my stuff the week before and the week after the wedding. Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: Micca Date: 08 Sep 02 - 06:32 PM Carol... I missed this thread until Hesperis brought it to my attention.. Many congratulations and best wishes to you both, Jack, You are one lucky guy as Carol is one of the nicest 'Catters I have been lucky enough to meet in 3D, and if she cares for you then you need no other introduction or recommendation for me. May you have a long and happy life together, not being able to congratulate you in person makes my absence from the Getaway, this year, that bit harder to bear, Morty will have to do the honours on my behalf, and if you guys fancy a trip to England.. you have somewhere to stay.. big hugs and much of all the good stuff, Micca |
Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: MAG Date: 08 Sep 02 - 07:11 PM Ah, this explains the MHT thread. I was thrown off by the reference to CarolC as a Southern Belle. Since when is a New England Yankee a Southern Belle? MAG, who has her computer back, as well as her correct handle. |
Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: CarolC Date: 05 Oct 02 - 12:05 PM Thanks Micca! Yeah, MAG, what's that southern belle thing all aboot, I wonder? Thanks DonD! Hey Dan! Que pasa? Yup! One more week from today! I'm trying to pick out some music right now. JtS thinks "The Mary Ellen Carter" would be a good song to end the ceremony with ("rise again, rise again"). What do you-all think? |
Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: Lyrical Lady Date: 05 Oct 02 - 12:19 PM Carol ...The "Mary Ellen Carter" sounds good...rise again..rise again! You could team it up with "She"ll be Comin' 'Round the Mountain"...when she comes...when she comes! LL (whose sense of humour is questionable this morning!) |
Subject: RE: No B.S. Newfie Nuptuals? From: hesperis Date: 05 Oct 02 - 01:08 PM Of course you're a southern belle, Carol. You're south of newfie-land, aren'tcha? Will not make it in person, but will definitely be there in spirit! *Many, many hugs!* |
