Subject: BS: Mudcat Heifer project From: mg Date: 28 Jan 09 - 10:21 PM I just bought a family pig at Heifer, and also set up a mudcat place where people could contribute. If someone wants to run with this instead of me, that is great. You pay them directly. You can form teams, etc. https://www.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=178641&supId=245839314 click here or go to https://www.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent= Now, I do not know exactly how this team thing works, but it is a great organization, as you will see on the site. What I am thinking that to raise money people could sell some old CDs they don't need, either locally, through Amazon or whatever. mg |

Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Heifer project From: mg Date: 28 Jan 09 - 10:58 PM Great. Now we have two people. Like I say, I am not certain exactly how this works, but no money comes to me, it goes directly to Heifer, which does great work around the world and in U.S. mg |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Heifer project From: Arkie Date: 29 Jan 09 - 03:50 PM Heifer Project is certainly a worthwhile program and worthy of support. My wife and I have been making contributions for some time. The concept behind Heifer is to provide assistance in the form of livestock so the gift multiples itself plus the person or family receiving the gift become caretakers rather than passive gift recipients. Heifer also provides training and is an excellent training tool for teaching folk of this country about the realities of world hunger. Good thing, Mary. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Heifer project From: GUEST,mg Date: 29 Jan 09 - 04:14 PM I love it...anyone up for selling a couple of their old CDs and contributing? Or expanding the team? mg |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Heifer project From: Charley Noble Date: 29 Jan 09 - 04:46 PM MG- Judy and I also support the Heifer Project. Generally we donate a goat, tough little beasts that can provide milk, wool, and when they're too old for anything else -- stew. Cheerily, Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Heifer project From: maeve Date: 29 Jan 09 - 06:27 PM Of course I'll help. I'll join the team, and I'll start by selling some of my cds. When our forced bulbs are ready to sell, I'll donate some of that income as well. This is a meaningful way to help people. Thank you for thinking of it, Mary. maeve |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Heifer project From: GUEST,mg Date: 29 Jan 09 - 07:08 PM That is great. I should check out a place in US for selling used CDs...I might be able to spare a few out of my large collection of about 10 or so...for some reason when we switched to CDs I just cut way down on listening to music... Anyway, lots of people have lots of CDs that they really will never listen to again and could get a few bucks for and clean out the clutter as well... I think perhaps we might be able to vote on what kind of animal or where it goes but I really can not figure that out from the website. I would be inclined toward US..Appalachia, renewing small agriculture, or Navaho nation, improving the sheep stock. But I would not personally decide. mg |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Heifer project From: maeve Date: 30 Jan 09 - 07:09 AM I might just take a few good ones to chorus rehearsal and see what folks want to donate for them, knowing the money will go to Heifer. I'm going to make a link to this over at the Decluttering thread, Mary. There may well be some interest there. maeve |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Heifer project From: mg Date: 30 Jan 09 - 10:56 AM that would be great. It is always easier to get rid of stuff if there is a good result from it. mg |
