As a former infantryman, I'll tell you: I'd MUCH MUCH MUCH rater that a few thousand dollars worth of robot got blown to hell, shot, or incinerated than me or one of my comrades.

One day all wars will be fought by robots until the realization of the ludicrousness of it all will finally close that chapter of humanity's idiocy. We can only hope.

Read a great science fiction story once about the Battle of Armageddon: the forces of good versus the literal Demons of the Powers of Darkness.

The good guys, who were robotic warriors, won even though many perished.

As a result, the robots were "raptured" and humans were left behind....
