Subject: Celtic Connections 2010 From: CET Date: 12 Feb 10 - 07:46 AM For the past few days I have been listening to selections from Celtic Connections on BBC Radio. Not everything was exactly to my taste, but it sounds like a blast. Did any Catters go this year? What did you think? |

Subject: RE: Celtic Connections 2010 From: akenaton Date: 13 Feb 10 - 07:47 PM I think they should sack the manager. |
Subject: RE: Celtic Connections 2010 From: CET Date: 14 Feb 10 - 12:44 PM That sounds harsh. What was the problem? |
Subject: RE: Celtic Connections 2010 From: CET Date: 17 Feb 10 - 07:21 AM Further deponent sayeth not? It isn't fair to say that the manager should be sacked, with no explanation or justification. |
Subject: RE: Celtic Connections 2010 From: Diva Date: 17 Feb 10 - 09:22 AM I was there as a guest and as a punter. stayed on the middle Sunday especially to see Sheila Stewart who was marvellous. As were the two Gaelic singers and Brian McNeil. |
Subject: RE: Celtic Connections 2010 From: Johnny J Date: 17 Feb 10 - 10:14 AM "I think they should sack the manager. " Well, there are quite a few things to criticise but it's not just one person who is responsible for everything. I'm not sure whether Akenaton is referring to the "aristic director"(Donald Shaw) in particular? He is really just involved with the programming side of things and any other disasters aren't necessarily his fault. Back on topic, I enjoyed the parts of the festival which I chose to go and see during the second weekend. There is a lot of good stuff in the festival but....dare I say it.... the bulk of it is superflous to my requirements and much of it is somewhat indulgent nonsense. However, it's whatever takes your fancy, I suppose. My main criticism is that there are no longer any advantageous deals for those people who wish to attend several concerts, ie over a weekend or even over the fortnight since the revised the Celtic Friends scheme. Part of the enjoyment about going to festivals is getting the opportunity to hear new, different acts...even take a few risks. However, with the present pricing system, you are obliged to be much more selective which is a pity. |
